(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score cleaning and prepping the block I cannot seem to find a good thread regarding prepping the longblock and cleaning the tops of the pistons prior to performing a headgasket repair. What have you guys done? Acetone and a razorblade? Brass wire brush?

| Not Ranked : 0 score To clean the deck surface, I used a razorblade. Be sure to plug all holes/cylinders and/or have a vacuum, set to full suck, while you scrape the surface so that crud doesn't fall into the oil channels, coolant channels, or get jammed in the piston rings. Leave your piston tops alone. If you want clean pistons, do a rebuild.

(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score Not quite sure what I was looking at initially. The piston is definitely compromised when I went to resurface the block. Now I need to decide what to do. Part out and sell it or drop a new engine in. Sent from my iPhone using tapatalkreplace

| Not Ranked : 0 score now you know why the head gasket broke....instead of just craking a ring land, the heat and knock also made it melt taking the gasket with it. (or was remanufactured without being decked) i'm curious about those pistons...i never notice the writing on mine but it is looking like a #3 installed for #1..... Drop the pan and get it out to see how is the cylinder wall but....humm

(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score cleaning and prepping the block @jeff23spl It’s a 2007 so the old style pistons. All the pistons say M2 on them and that’s an arrow pointing towards the crankshaft side of the engine, not a 1. Sent from my iPhone using tapatalkreplace
