(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score Dp + Turboback So I've been reading online that an aftermarket exhaust is essentially useless unless you're going to be/ or already are making big power, since the stock exhaust flows pretty well. But, I've also read in a few places that with the combination of a DP and E, yields anywhere between 30-40 whp. Is this mainly the numbers of replacing the restrictive design of the stock downpipe to a more free-flowing design, or is the aftermarket exhaust actually making a substantial addition to the power? Can someone clear this up for me? Thanks in advance. |

| Not Ranked : 0 score I wouldn't say that either is 100% correct. A TBE is going to give you a good amount of power whether your lightly or heavily modded, most of that power is from the downpipe which is the most restrictive part of the exhaust. But I wouldn't expect 30-40whp from it either. Hope that helps.

(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score Yeah this clears up a bit, but I'm still not sure how a TBE can derive "a good amount" of power on a lightly modded application because for it to work effectively, wouldn't you need a highly increased air flow pattern for the benefits in power? As it holds, (with the stock exhaust) the air flow isn't constricted all that heavily save for the downpipe area... in total, can you explain how it can benefit in power, and can it be a good power-getter through getting a downpipe, since that will increase air flow by a significant amount? |

| Not Ranked : 0 score Turbos feed off the exhaust, making it typically the easiest power adder. Make the car inhale and exhale easier, with an intake and exhaust and you'll be very happy.

| Not Ranked : 0 score The 'catback' isn't gonna net much, but the dp/rp will remove the cats which are the restriction. TBE is just a term used for the dp and catback put together, essentially making it a free flow from the 'turbo-back'. No need to change out the catback, putting dp in will essentially turn your stock exhaust into a turbo back. |

| Not Ranked : 0 score ANY turbo car, gains most from adding better stuff to the front of the exhaust, not the back. Closer to the front, generally the more the gain is. I'll tell you that a DP/RP combo COULD easily net you 30-40 over stock, paired with a decent intake, using the stock cat-back. Wanna do it a bit at a time? Do it the easy way: Intake first, then RP, then DP if you're still motivated. |

| Not Ranked : 0 score It definitely gains 30whp with a full catless TBE. Its not worth the money to get a catback, though. It probably will get you 5whp with the aftermarket catback added to an aftermarket DP/RP. With the stock DP/RP and and an aftermarket catback you wont get anything but louder. And at 500-700 dollars you can do a lot better(like a Mani). But if you want a loud ass ms3 get a Mani/DP/RP/CBE. Its about 40whp over stock and with an intake and TIP its about 60whp over stock. Stock being 220whp.

| Not Ranked : 0 score Yeah, uncut and paired with a Corksport DP and RP, the car sounds really nice. Makes me roll the window down and turn up the floor heat full blast just to listen to it, despite the fact it's freezing outside. |
