Default HOW-TO: REPLACE MS6 REAR AXLE INNER BOOT

Don't know if there has been a how to on this already, but i have not found it. Was doing this anyways and figured i'd take pics for a write up. I had already taken the axle apart and cleaned it up so that you can see what's inside without the grease in the way.

Boot repair kits are pretty cheap...a lot cheaper than buying a new or used axle, and really isn't hard to do. Can't recall where i bought mine, but it came with the boot, new clamps, grease, lock ring, snap ring.

Step 1.) remove rear axle. There are plenty of how to's on this already.

Step 2.) remove the metal clamps that hold the boot to the shaft. you can unfold the 2 tabs and pry it open enough to get a cutter in there and cut it off.

Step 3.) Pull the boot down a few inches and start cleaning away some of the grease from the top of the bearing housing.

Step 4.) use a small angled pick to remove lock ring at the bearing housing opening, do not separate yet.

Step 5.) with input shaft facing down, slowly pull the shaft out of the housing while using your other hand to wrap around the bearing and keep from falling out. Once clear of the housing, carefully remove bearings.

Step 6.) remove snap ring and bearing supports from shaft

Step 7.) clean all parts

Step 8.) Reassemble and lube

Pretty simple really
