(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score Dual meth tank install how-to So I found myself constantly filling up with more meth after I went with my big turbo install last month. With a larger nozzle and a heavy foot I found myself needing a larger meth tank. I value my trunk space so I decided to buy a 4 quart tank from devils own. Since I went big turbo I was able to remove my CAI and install a SRI which free'd up the space in my drivers side wheel well. I was able to easily bolt the 4 quart tank right now, no special bracks required. I just used an existing threaded hole and bought the correct threaded bolt and it held the tank in place without any drilling, special brackets etc. Cost me about .75 cents and a trip to ACE hardware for parts. Anyways back on topic. My original meth tank was the stock washer fluid reservoir. I purchased the 4 quart tank, 3 self sealing quick connects and 10ft of tubing form Devils Own. Since this new tank sits lower then the stock washer fluid reservoir it works great!. I'm able to run a line from the washer reservoir to the new meth tank and it will keep it full Here is the existing quick connect tapped at the very bottom of the tank. I should actually have tapped it on the bottom side of the tank instead of the lowest point of the side of the tank. So anyone wanting to do this, just tap onto the very bottom of the tank! Since I had a float sensor in my washer fluid reservoir I had to remove it and patch the tank. I used plastic welder and cut a piece of plastic from an old laundry detergent bottle. Took me about 5 minutes to complete this and 15 minutes to seal it completely. Once the washer fluid reservoir was patched I moved onto the new tank. I needed a way to easily fill it because there is no way to fill it when it's mounted to the wheel well area. I went to ACE hardware and went to the pvc pipe fitting section and purchased a 1" coupler which has 1" female threading and 1" barbed area for a 1" ID hose. I bought 2 of these couplers and a 1" pvc cap. I simply drilled a hole in the cap of the meth tank then threaded the fitting in place and sealed it with RTV. I connected my 1" ID hose and routed it up into the engine bay then put the other barbed fitting in place and capped it with the cap. I also drilled a few tiny holes in the cap so the tank can breathe. Here is the final outcome. Here is the fill hole with cap in the engine bay Once that was completed I mounted the tank. Next I wired everything back up and connected the float sensor. As you can see I have two lines coming out of the bottom of my primary tank. One line goes to the input of the pump and the other line goes stock washer fluid reservoir. Now I have roughly 2 gallons of meth under my hood. As you can see the pump is located just under the primary tank it pulls from. Make sure to prime the pump before using it if this is the initial install. Good luck and I hope this how-to helps others out!

| Not Ranked : 0 score That's pretty smart, I never thought about using both tanks like that.

| Not Ranked : 0 score lmao. do you want me to build you a stainless steel tank that you can mount in the hatch? Shoot, even with d10 flow I only had to fill my 3qt tank like every week and a half. Now I've got a tank that's like 2 gallons+ EDIT: By the way.....the methanol is gonna eat those plastic fittings. It eats JB weld, too. And will probably eat that clear hose you used.

| Not Ranked : 0 score Not a bad idea but if I could improve on it a bit? You could essentially just have the washer fluid gravity feed into your secondary tank instead of the seperate fill neck. Just route maybe a 1/4" vent line from the secondary tank (above or even with the stock fill neck or even into the fill neck) or simply use a large transfer hose and put it at the highest point on the secondary tank. This would ensure that even if you ran out of washer fluid you would still have meth available and would also clean up the install a bit with the deletion of your secondary filler neck. Just a thought to improve on an already awesome setup

As far as meth eating this tubing away I'm not to worried and if it does eventually eat it away I will just replace the tubing. It's dirt cheap and highly available. I've had this meth system installed for just over 3 years and I have had no issues so far. All original tubing and quick connects still. How many years you thinking before this actually happens? | Not Ranked : 0 score A guy from Yukon just bought a kit from you, he's Military. There's a thead at the top of the genpu section. To the OP, if you need to go more permanence on the fittings, Home depot has thicker hose, and Parker has quick connect fittings up to 1/2". Been using the 3/8" hose. 1/2" plus a vent should do pretty well. |
