(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score The JBR Sponsored #85 MAZDASPEED 3 to race at Road Atlanta! The JBR Sponsored #85 All Out Auto Motorsports MAZDASPEED 3 returns to the Continental Tire Series to race at Road Atlanta! After a hard crash during the first race of the year in Daytona, causing extensive structural damage to the roll cage, the JBR sponsored MAZDASPEED 3 will be back on track for the last race of the 2014 season. With the MAZDASPEED 3 out of production heading in to the 2014 season, Mazda pulled their funding for teams racing them. The costs to repair the car and get it back in to race condition after the crash were paramount. So, the guys from All Out Auto started seeking some sponsorship assistance. They looked around at all the manufactures of Mazda aftermarket performance parts and when they were introduced to JBR, they liked what they saw. They needed parts that would perform up to the high demands of road course racing first and foremost but equally as important, they wanted to work with a company that had an outstanding reputation. That’s when I received a call from Michael Head owner/driver of the #85 . The team worked feverishly to get the car fixed and we worked fast to get them the parts they needed in order to make the next race in Sebring. Well, one thing led to another and another and another; the car was in bad shape. Once the car was ready it needed to be re-inspected by the sectioning body IMSA and that too was another long drawn out process. We also learned during the inspection process that some of the JBR parts we provided also had to be inspected and approved by IMSA, and that took more time. Well at last the car is ready! Testing went well, and everyone is very excited to get back on the track. This coming Thursday at 4:35pm EDT the #85 will go out for a 15 minute qualifying session for a place on the starting grid of Friday’s race at 1:15pm EDT! Watch both qualifying and The Continental Tire Series Race Live on IMSA.com and set your DVR for the rebroadcast of the race on Fox SPORTS 1, October 12th at 12:00pm EDT. The #85 has every JBR part installed that the rule book allows!
We will be in attendance for Qualifying and of course the race. So, if you’re in the Braselton Georgia area come join us for what’s gonna be a very exciting weekend of Continental Tire and TUDOR Series Racing! Thanks, Jamie |

(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score I'm happy to report the car passed tech yesterday. There were a couple of issues....cracked drivers seat, out of date fire suppression system and a failed transponder. The seat was repaired, presumably occurred during the wreck in Daytona, the fire suppression system was serviced at the track and IMSA replaced the transponder. Practice this morning and qualifying this afternoon. |

| Not Ranked : 0 score Wish you were there when I saw the Conti Tire series at Lime Rock in May! Was wondering why there was no MS3 entry, now it makes sense. It's BS that Mazda cut race team funding - their entire image is built on their friendliness to amateur racers. I don't get it. Is the car's performance neutered for the ST class through ECU tuning? I'd imagine that a fully bolted MS3 would have the power to run in GS class, right? IIRC there is a Subaru STI running in GS. |

This car runs a restrictor in front of the turbo to reduce the power. Other cars are allowed to modify certain things to raise the power they make in an effort to level the field. There is an STI running in GS and it's fast. If you want to run in GS it just costs more money. I have in car video of the qualifying session I'm trying to get uploaded but it's taking a long time here on the hotel wifi. | |
