Default question about v1 3.5

I picked up what a member said was a 3.5 all aluminum w/ black wrinkle finish intake. I am having some issues with fitment and my ets tmic w/ cobb xle bpv. It appears the path the intake wants to take puts the filter right at the bpv leaving no room for it to go on. IS this something that was typical with this intake? Need advice please.

Have you tried putting on the stocker to see if it fits? If so, use it while you figure out what boost tube will work. I had to trim my corksport one when I went Fmic, sometimes you can twist the inlet pipe for clearance

It's a tight fit with the xle. You'll need to shim it out, see the install instructions in the support section of our website. That's one reason we went to all silicone.

yes but the big problem with you guys going to all silicone is that for folks that buy the 3.5 all silicone if they decide to go bt..they have to buy another intake... to fit the inlet..which is great for you guys..u sell more product.bad for those of us that don't want to have to buy multiple intakes...

@jbarone I am curious. I purchased an original 3.5 wp from a member here. Did you guys offer this intake in a black wrinkle finish? I haven't seen any pictures of one but just curious.

On the surface it may appear to be better to buy aluminum but, it's not and here's why....

The new 3.5" silicone intakes are a 3.5" ID unlike any aluminum intake with a 3.5" OD. Our intakes move a larger volume of air. Look at how restrictive the design of the aluminum intakes with the MAF screen air straighteners are. The bead roll in the tubing and the bead of sealant used to hold it is narrows down the ID so much you're wasting your money on them. Ours has no reduction in ID from the air straightener. Our silicone intakes do a far superior job at insulating the intake air as compared to aluminum. They do not scratch and stay looking new forever. They fit 10x better and have much smoother radius's then any mandrel bent tube does. These are just a few reasons why they maintain a very high resale value as well. So, if you buy one for stock turbo now, then sell it to buy one for a bigger turbo down the road, the performance is way worth the 20-30 you may loose on selling the first one. This was never any kind of sham to get you guys to buy more intakes from us. We are and always have been performance oriented not $$$ oriented.

All the aluminum intakes we make came with black wrinkle powder coat accept a couple.
