(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score Has anyone written tool to diff compare 2 map files in AP? Is there a tool that basically lists the diff (differences) between two map (.ptm) files? It is a little time consuming in ATR to go line for line and table by table to compare maps. It would be an awesome tool if some program read in 2 map files and spit out the differences on a per table basis. Does such a thing exist? |

| Not Ranked : 0 score You'd have to decode the .ptm file. I think COBB is not going to be pleased with something like this.

| Not Ranked : 0 score Would be a nice feature, but at the moment you would have to decrypt and/or decompress the map files.

| Actually, there is a tool... its just depends on your aptitude level of actually being able to read code: Beyond Compare - The file compare, folder compare and remote directory compare utility from Scooter Software Ive been using it for years

| Not Ranked : 0 score ^^ That will not work, try opening up a map, change just one value, save under a different name, the two files are completely different now when you do a hex dump.

(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score I concur. I would only expect maybe a checksum and maybe a few bytes to change by changing 1 value. I diff'd two files the same way and the dump is completely different. |

(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score If Cobb provides the diff functionality as a high level feature in ATR then they don't have to worry about someone pursuing the solution deep into their map files. For as long as the AP has been out in the tuner market and among a bunch of techies I am actually pretty shocked that this hasn't been done yet.

| Not Ranked : 0 score So let say you add a TIP and switch maps to accommodate the pipe. You have to go to each table and change them all again? There is no easy way to save the changes you've already made on a new map without changing what's important?

| Not Ranked : 0 score No, the encoding/encrypting of a map changes every time you tweak the littlest thing. This has nothing to do with how you see a map when you open it in the AccessTuner software.
