| Not Ranked : 0 score Well, that's the idea, that's why we have all these vendors making efforts to bring us the parts we need at decent prices to modify our engines properly so that we do not go ZZB.

| Not Ranked : 0 score I did but was simply due to having the spark plugs installed. If you want to crank motor by hand first remove spark plugs and have at it, much better option than leaving them in and fighting compression.

| Not Ranked : 0 score Hey Bamm88 how's it goin, I just had my first ZZB encounter and boy does it suck lol Anyways, I'm looking to get a bit more info on how your install went, if you've had any noise issues with the motor (ie; knocking, pinging, compression loss, etc), and anything you might want to make note. I hate bothering people, but i'm about to drop some big cash (as you may know by experience) and I don't want to get screwed over. I did a shit load of research on that ATK company and kept reading crazy reviews on how people got screwed over bad by them. Any help is much appreciated! Thanks, Fellow Zoomer Last edited by micazoom07; 12-21-2014 at 09:10 PM. Reason: Directing post |

(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score So far we haven't had anyone have an issue with this engine and we've got quite a few of them out there now. But none of them have a whole lot of miles at this time due to the fact they haven't been in the cars for more than a year. |

| Not Ranked : 0 score Is that right out of the box? Compression will be on low side until ringlands are fully seated after break-in.

| Not Ranked : 0 score These motors should also come with some writing on the gasket box stating compression they tested as I believe they test all cylinders on all motors before they ship one out. Compression listed on box is cold motor that has not been broken in so it will be lower until both items achieved.

| Not Ranked : 0 score I got ZZB on my MS6 recently and towed it straight to a dealership in haste. Seeing this thread makes the anal raping by Mazda that much more painful. When/If my MS3 goes kaboom as well ... I am going this route instead if I choose not to go all out w/ a build. My asshole can only take so much.

| Not Ranked : 0 score Trust me when I say @Jkelley; has no idea what the fuck he is talking about. Mazda doesn't even have a 'rebuilt' motor option. I also got a factory fresh brand new long block from Mazda also about 6 months ago. Motor still smelled like Sushi it was so fresh from Japan. WTF do I know though, right?

I kinda wish I would have bought a new motor direct from Mazda. Didn't know it was an option when I was making the purchase. It would have been ~$1K more than my remanufactured engine, but I wouldn't have had to swap in my old VC & Oil pan. I'm guessing the new Mazda built motor will run better and probably last longer than the reman. I have no idea if mine has the updated VVT parts (I would expect the Mazda one to have it). My only consolation is that my reman has a 3yr unlimited miles warranty.

I would have run an EDGE REMAN without thinking about it, they just couldn't guarantee me a lead time on delivery and Mazda had the new engines in stock about 100 miles away from me at their warehouse.

(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score We have been selling a lot of these engines and so far, to my knowledge anyways, no one has had any issues. So I feel safe saying that this is an excellent option for anyone needing to get back on the road in a hurry! |

(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score These have been a hugely popular option when it comes to replacing a ZZB MZR. The first one that we got went into a big turbo speed 6 and is still on the road today over a year later pumping out around 24psi on a GTX3071. |
