My 3.5" intake isn't long enough for my Steedspeed manifold Note that this is NOT HTP or Matt's fault. It is my fucking Steedspeed manifold. SS recommended their swept-back version of their manifold, saying it gives more room to work. Its must proved to be nothing but a PIA. In another thread I raised an issue about the intake hitting the shifter support bracket. For now, I've just removed the bracket, to do test fitment of the intake otherwise. And it seems I need to have the intake several inches longer. You can see it'll be a nice fit and nice setup when it is modified to fit. But, for now, I can't use it. Again, this isn't Matt's fault. But I'll need to get it fixed. http://i344.photobucket.com/albums/p...psf43c41cd.jpg http://i344.photobucket.com/albums/p...ps21761171.jpg http://i344.photobucket.com/albums/p...psb14abd97.jpg |

I talked to Matt. He said he made one for a Speed 3 with that manifold I got. He said he had to add four inches to it. He asked me to measure to double check. Once I measure, he'll make me a custom one. |
I measured it. 4" is correct. I'll post updated pics when I get the updated unit. |
2 weeks? |
Interested in out come of this becasue I will be putting on the same setup within a couple of weeks. |
I was told that it would be around 2 weeks to get the updated intake. And, its been close to that. So, I should be getting it pretty soon. |
Your intake is done and will be rolling out the door. Hopefully this one does the trick for ya! Matt |
I received my intake. It is a very good quality piece! But now its a bit too long. I swear I measured it and the 4" looked right to me that was suggested. And, it would be fine as is, but, its too close to my CPE FMIC. Now, I figure that one of the next upgrades I will do is I will eventually need to replace that. But, the CPE is what I've got at least for now. I will post below some pictures that show it installed, and basically fitting. But, if the pipe was about 1.5" shorter, it would move the filter closer to the fuse box and have more room for the hot pipe of the FMIC. I will of course pay to have it modified. Again. What I figure you will do is just take the one I got, cut out 1.5" and reweld it and refinish it. Here are the pics. And, FYI, the filter is a AFE Dryflow filter that I sourced myself. http://i344.photobucket.com/albums/p...ps08915d19.jpg http://i344.photobucket.com/albums/p...ps92eda939.jpg http://i344.photobucket.com/albums/p...psa284ed18.jpg http://i344.photobucket.com/albums/p...ps8962413f.jpg |
Please measure the distance from the filter to the fuse box. I don't wanna make it too short. If you noticed I put a different angle on the intake to point it more towards the headlight to try and clear your ic piping. Also, maybe try rotating the intake upwards and see if that gives you any additional clearance. Matt |
Here are some pics. The super close up looks only a bit over 2" but the others look about 3". In any case, I'm confident that 1.5" cut will be perfect. Oh, and, I've taken the intake off. I'm putting back on my old intake for now. |
Just rotate the intake upwards a tad bit and itll clear the piping. |
