(Thread Starter) | Neutral : +8 score MAF Calibration Tutorial This tutorial can be followed for both the Gen 1 MS3, Gen 2 MS3, and also the MS6. If you upgrade to a larger than stock MAF housing you will have to scale the entire maf curve before performing your MAF Calibrations as the larger cross section allows for more airflow with less cooling to the MAF resistors due to the decrease in air velocity. If you have a larger than stock intake, you will develop a scalar first and THEN follow this tutorial. If you have a stock sized aftermarket intake, skip right to the videos. In order to develop a scalar for a larger than stock intake diameter, you must take the (New MAF Cross-Sectional Area) and divide (/) it by the (Stock MAF Cross Sectional Area). __________________________________________________ __________________________________________________ ______ You already know the cross section of the MAF housing is a circle and the area of a circle can is derived as (pi*r^2). Another derivation of this formula is (pi*d^2)/(4). When deviding the two cross sections, pi and all other constants will cancel. Therefor, all you need to do is take the square of the new MAF Diameter and divided it by the square of the stock MAF diameter. Simple as that. Example Scalar: You decide to upgrade to a 3" intake (76.2mm). The stock MAF housing is 66.5mm diamter (2.61811"). You can either convert millimeters to inches or inches to millimeters, the choice is yours. (76.2^2) / (66.5^2) = 1.313 Take 1.313 and multiply it by the entire MAF curve. Now you are ready to start your MAF Calibration. This is ONLY for vehicles with a larger than stock intake installed. This is only an example for a 3" intake. __________________________________________________ __________________________________________________ ______ ***Please be careful when performing WOT (Wide Open Throttle) logs. You will be breaking the law because of the speeds you will be accelerating to in 4th gear. Make sure your tires are in good condition, have adequite pressure, and that your car is aligned properly. Anything can go wrong at over 100 MPH and extra caution must be taken when logging these pulls. You are at your own risk when performing WOT logs and you must take every precaution before starting. For best results, watch in 720p HD and full screen and in the order they are placed. You can also download the zipfile to keep them on your computer and watch offline. Also i apologize for constantly coughing. I was still getting over having a sore throat from a cold. If you would like to know how i mounted my AP, you can visit this thread... Mounting Your Accessport Setting up your Accessport How to perform a closed loop MAF Cal Log How to analyze the data from your closed loop MAF Cal log and make the appropriate changes in AccessTuner Race Making Sure you do not have any dips in your MAF Curve! How to perform a WOT (Wide Open Throttle) Log How to analyze the data from your WOT MAF Cal log and make the appropriate changes in AccessTuner Race Also, here is video from another thread on using AccessTuner Race.

| Not Ranked : 0 score Great videos, Thanks man. I am saving now for an AP and these videos just solidified what I thought I needed to do when I finally started doing power mods and needed a MAF Cal. Videos are always so much help when showing people how to do things rather than trying to explain how to do it. I wish everyone on this site, when doing a tutorial on a "how to" included video just to back up what they are trying to teach us noobs.

(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score I plan on doing this real soon. My only problem is that my actual map (the one i used for the video is just a dummy map) hits my AFR's spot on. I don't want to "theoretically" show noobz how to do it, i want the AFR's to actually be wrong so i can show them what to do. I'll try and work something out. I might have an old WOT log that had some AFR's off. I'll take a video of how to do the corrections for that. And because of pure humor at the questions @dantes5823 gets, i might just have to do an in-car WOT pull LOL totally unsafe. Ganna need someone to hold the camera

UPDATE I was able to obtain a friend's WOT log and added a WOT Maf Calibration video to the OP. Also @Haltech, i know i posted this is in the Gen 1 forums. The same concept goes for the Gen 2's as well so if you can make sure they will see this thread even in thier department (if its possible).

(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score Anytime. I'm a very academic person and i can understand the complete blankness some people get when wanting to toy with their AP and ATR. I see how many noobs don't get it, and i felt that if we could just show them in person, they would understand ! So, a video is the next best thing
i think i will most likely take a "clear" video of how to set up your AP to log the correct parameters for both Closed Loop MAF Cal and WOT MAF Cal as well and make that the first video as @dantes5823 recommended. I may even make a video of how to go WOT in a safe manner. I know it sounds silly but some people truly do not know. And the idea is to make sure people are safe when trying these things. The more resources we can provide for newcomers, the better this forum will be

(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score LOL oh snap ! Well the AP setup i can certainlly do shortly. But the WOT pull would have to wait until i see gilly tonight. Feel free to send me the link if you get a video, and i can throw it into the OP. EDIT: Jon i am not really good with editing videos or anything like that. I don't have any software to combine videos. Only thing i have is a screen capturing program that i used for these videos. I've always left the video editing for friends who are better at this lol

What i can do though, is when i am making the video for the WOT pull i will be sure to mention at the end "The next video will demonstrate how to analyze the data from this log in order to tune your WOT Maf Curve". Then when i am all done, i will Number each video Part X of X and in the order they should be watched.

Just make sure you drive around as much as possible (about 50 miles). I personally like to monitor Mass Airflow (g/s) on the screen while driving around to make sure that when i get on the gas, that i am hitting up to 80~100 g/s to make sure that there are some learned trims up there for best results.

They all go from.. 0-5.70 5.70-18.00 18.00-30.00 30.00-200.00 The 2011/2012 stock mapping goes from 18.00-200.00. I don't have ATR for 2007/2008 or 2010 so i don't know what the stock mapping has for that. Nonetheless, i like to create the other breakpoints at g/s values that i typically drive around. I do a lot of 6th gear highway cruising on my daily commute and night time driving and i usually cruise around 23 g/s and somewhere around 37 g/s so thats why i have the breakpoint from 18.00-30.00 and 30.00 to 50.00. And i don't normally get on it very often and when i do, im usually around 60 g/s to 85 g/s. I basically taylored the breakpoints to the way i drive to get best results. Doing this yeilded me very precise results for the average of LTFT and allowed me to really tighten up the MAF values. I'm usually around 0.68% LTFT and dont normally see more than 1.6% LTFT

(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score yeah if you re-flash any map, your LTFT's will reset and be at 0 again so you need to put some miles on to learn some trims

| Not Ranked : 0 score yeah, plenty of miles have been attained on this map, so it should have relearned whatever it needed to.

But once you make your corrections, and re-flash your map, you'll need to accumulate the miles again before your next log. Once you get to calibrating your WOT AFR's, you dont need to put any miles on because at WOT you will be in open loop and the ECU will not have any saved trims, it will go strictly off the values you put in your MAF table. So for correcting WOT AFR's, just reflash, and go WOT. I will make a note of this in the 5th video that is still yet to come. On the bright side, calibrating WOT AFR's usually goes by rather quickly. I like to bring my laptop out with me and grab a log, pull into Dunkin Donuts, get a drink and do my ATR work. And then i'll go back out, reflash, and grab another log. You can have it done in a night if your willing..
