Default Best TBE option

Ok i think i have this narrowed down.... Should i go w/ Vibrant TBE, TurboXS TBE, or Cork Sport TBE.... I like the sound of Cork Sprt the best but which has the best power gains.. I've been told Vibrant does.. any clarification?

the vibrant would be a good choice with only the corksport or turboxs downpipe, since it only replaces the second cat with a high flow cat. its considered a downpipe-back exhaust system. They are all good choices, but this platform with the tiny-ass turbo needs a little bit of backpressure in order to not overboost. i would put a high-flow cat in there somewhere.

So does the CORK Sport "complete TBE" not do that? I'm trying to find the easiest way to accomplish all of this with one purchase.. that possible?

There are 3 components to the MS3's exhaust system: the downpipe, the midpipe, and the cat-back. The stock downpipe and stock midpipe both have cats.

both the corksport and turboxs TBE are catless. this isn't that much of an issue, except that some people experience overboosting, which can shorten the turbo's life. the corksport downpipe is the only one you can purchase separately, I believe the only way to purchase the turboxs dp is the 'stealthback' exhaust which includes the catless midpipe as well. I believe a good choice is just buying the corksport downpipe and combine it with the virbrant downpipe-back exhast. That way you will have 1 high-flow cat and it will help your boost stay consistant with the stock turbo. This obviously isn't needed if you want to go completely catless, and in that case the turboxs or corksport TBE will be fine. just be warned that the turboxs catback is LOUD.

custom performance engineering.
if you have the money PM palerider and order their exhaust through him.
IMO the best 2 DP`s are cobb & CPE.
corksport is a different style(divorced wastegate gasses), and is a shorty DP.

Nope
Comes with a spacer for the O2 sensor.

Also the CP-E is a quality unit, but you are almost at the price for a full turboback for just the DP!

Yes people have thrown CELs with and without the extender. But not everybody.

I've had mine for 20000km and I think I only got 1 CEL during the first 200km.

It's a quality piece for a great price.

Like Kingpin said above, it's really hit and miss on the cel. But you should have a dashhawk, if not I think it should be on the top of your list of parts. And with the dashhawk you can clear the cel! I got one CEL about 200 miles after the Corksport DP and RP install for "Slow reading O2" (or something like that). Cleared it and 15k miles later no more CELs have come up.

Good choice with the corksport exhaust, I really love the sound as well. I am planning on getting it some day. I'm still on the stock cat-back for now. From my past dealings with Corksport, they are such a good company. I was buying parts from them years ago when I had my Rx7 Turbo II, great guys.

Yes, Corksport DP/RP combo IS 3 inch. It also has a REALLY good sounding exhaust note and is an affordable and quality piece.

TurboXS TBE will make some big power BUT it is LOUD.. REALLY LOUD! A customer came though an got a custom tune and made 317/343 w/ a Cobb FMIC, Cobb SRI, TurboXS DP and CBE. If you look at the TXS stuff it is a little larger and has 0 back pressure. Only consider it if you dont mind a loud exhaust.

Thats almost exactly where my car is at. you should decide how you want to deal with the 19psi boost cut before you install everything.

CP-E TBE....maybe a little more money... but mine has been flawless for 2 years and never a fitment or CEL issue.....get the best. Cobb would be my 2nd choice but not available.
Corksport nice, but i have heard issues with early units...By local...CP-E FTW!!!! If i had to do it again this would be a no brainer.

it depends on how old your car is. you should be able to re-use the stock gasket, but if you have any doubts, get a new gasket ahead of time. you will need an O2 sensor socket and a good variety of 14mm 3/8" drive sockets, extensions, and swivels. i found that a wobble extension worked the best for the bolts on the turbo. i've attached the PDF instructions for the corksport DP to give you an idea of whats involved

Thats how bad the oem parts starve the motor. Boost control, MAP clamp or EMS, etc.
