Default Full Race Exhaust Manifold/Exhaust Combo

As some may know, I'm running a built block with a PnP intake manifold, 3 to 4" intake, Full race exhaust manifold into a 3" ATP long pipe through a magnaflow exhaust. I can't find the right exhaust sound that fits what I want.. I originally had a CNT exhaust because it sounds nice and throaty on a typical bolt-on speed. On mine, nice and loud and not throaty. Had a local selling his car, so we swapped exhausts. The magnaflow sounded amazing on his car. Put it on mine and holy fuckballs; it was basically straight pipe.

Sounded good at idle, but a blip of the throttle made it sound tin can like, and I did not like it. So I ended up buying a muffler and welding it in, that helped a ton. Now its actually quiet-ish. At WOT (in cabin) it's actually decently quiet. But from behind, it still sounds kinda tin-canny.

I would like to hear some clips of people with a similar setup. I know Matrix311 has the same setup, we are basically twin cars (down to the suspension and wheels). He runs the Nexus exhaust; and it's mean sounding. I will end up buying that probably, but am curious as to what others are running. I blew my budget by buying coilovers last week .

I am looking for a nice deep sounding combo.

Videos fixed.

My car with the CNT exhaust

My car currently with the magniflow + muffler at about half throttle.

The problem is the manifold changes the sound drastically. You'll probably need something custom to counteract the raspy rage that the manifold brings out.

I have a Magnaflow catback, and it sounded *amazing* with the stock turbo/manifold, but now it sounds fucking terrible inside the car but is redeemable outside. Part of your problem may be that the Magnaflow will slip and rattle against the center brace. I had mine welded up to prevent this, and that helped dramatically.

Why would you run the stock catback on a > 400 whp car?

Cause if the magnaflow is to loud for him (which is one of the most quiet exhausts out there) then he should go back to stock. The gen 2 exhaust flows pretty well and 0.5 inches won't be detrimental if he runs the stock exhaust.

A 4 into 1 collector at 2.5 inches is good for ~250 hp, all motor. Turbos like to breathe, so ideally you should go as big, and short, as possible.

Per his sig: "491/434 on a mustang dyno" means either you don't know what you're talking about or your "friend" is doing this whole turbo thing completely wrong.

I just Gave the Op a suggestion. I wouldn't run a 2.5 exhaust on a turbo car even if it didn't have 400 hp plus. But if the tone of the magnaflow is not to his liking then what are his other options? And my friend made 362 on 93 pump gas with full race manifold, Cobb dp and Bnr s3 on a mustang dyno. He figured he would lose a little sticking with the stock back but he went with a quiet ride over 10Hp give or take.

Only real solution is to run full 4" turbo back exhaust. That would probably also gain 20-30hp.

There's threads on here that show you get more than 10 whp stock turbo stock manifold stock downpipe with just a catback. You can make a quiet exhaust that flows well; staying stock is not the way to do it though.

I'm not debating that. Every setup differs. I know an exhaust gives good gains. I already stated my viewpoint on the stock exhaust. I don't run a stock exhaust myself so I would never say it's not beneficial. But Op did say he's gonna try a nexus exhaust so I hope that works for him.

Just FYI. I have a built block with a gtx3076@28psi lol. I do not think a stock exhaust would be beneficial and only degrade performance.

What I'd like is the same performance without the crazy loudness I get because of the full race manifold.

There is another local that I am built very similar to. He has a full race Mani with a nexus exhaust, and I almost am in love with it.

Just not the got damn price... What I really need is just the back end piece... Haha. I already have the magnaflow resonator.
