Default PCV Failure

Back story: I have a CorkSport catch can, the first generation one that I got in late 2012, the current one shown on the site looks quite a bit different. I bought it used off some guy locally and it worked when he had it. The can dripped out quote a bit of residual oil so I assume it worked.

I had put it on, but shortly removed it as I needed some warranty work done due an oil leak from the valve cover and main seal. During that time it didn't catch anything and my mechanic said cause the crappy hoses ripped.

Fast forward to this November when I finally got around to putting it on again. Drove it around for a couple weeks and it still caught nothing and the hoses were all done properly. While I was getting my brakes done last weekend I pulled the undertray off again and checked the hoses. Lo and behold, nothing in the hoses either, just some clean water in a brand new hose.

My mechanic thinks my PCV is stuck closed? I haven't heard of that happening, and I was wondering if anyone here has heard of such a thing? I'm still under warranty, and if I can prove that its broken I want to get it fixed ASAP.

Can't really explain why the catch can isn't catching anything, and there is nothing in the hoses.

Thanks

chances are your rear main blew because you're no longer pulling any vacuum on the block, and that's also the same reason the pcv isn't flowing. there's no vacuum drawing through it.

Is it not pulling any vacuum because it was installed incorrectly? I guess I'll triple check what is going on with the can.

Is there a way to check if the PCV is doing what its supposed to be?

It's not pulling vacuum because there is no source of vacuum.
Just please explain the routing to confirm.

My signs of pcv failure was excessive oil in my Vocc off of the valve cover. The can was getting full in hours of driving. It was pretty bad. Once I changed it...back to normal. I run the 2nd version of CS' occ and I routed it the tradition way. It works fine for me. As Tokay said, explain or make a crappy paint pic of how you routed your lines.

Bringing this back. I haven't been driving the car much since my shocks were blown and haven't had time to deal with this until now.

I checked the hoses, its going from the PCV to OCC to intake manifold. I ran a clear tube to see if anything is blowing through the hoses, and nothing at all, the tube was clean after 2 weeks.

@Tokay444; can you shed any light on the this?
@faeker; I have nothing in the can at all. My mechanic is suggesting the check valve is jammed shut for some reason.

I had the same issue. When mine clogged I was getting excess oil in my other can on my valve cover. Maybe check then line there to see if it has more oil than usual. How many miles?

@faeker; I'll check the VC, but I just had the VC gasket done a year ago under warranty , would Mazda figure to investigate something like that?
@Tokay444; I don't believe the PCV has even been touched. Are you suggesting that it came backwards from factory?

I didn't read more that a couple posts. I thought you had the standard check valve on the manifold.

Is there a check valve on the manifold as well? I just know there is one on the PCV.

He means a check valve inline with the cc line I believe. If you don't have a check valve between the pcv and the can you should get one. I'm thinking your PVC is clogged.
