(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score Since I only need about 12" of hose, I'd like to avoid having to buy a 3 foot piece, mainly because I don't want to have to cut the hose and risk fraying the braids in the process. Same thing goes for having to cut those red/blue fittings off the end of the shorter pieces I've found online. I know people have said fraying the braids can be avoided by wrapping tape around the hose before cutting it, but something tells me I'm resourceful enough to fray the cuts anyway. So, if you bought 6AN hose for your install, were you able to find it in a 12" section without those NOS fittings?

(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score Their hoses all have those fittings on the end too. I've looked everywhere, but I cannot find an answer to whether or not those fittings will work or if I'll have to cut them off. I'm thinking I'd have to cut them off? All the threads I read on the subject speak of using hose clamps to secure the hose, I figure people would use those fittings if they could instead.

| Not Ranked : 0 score I use alot of SS braid hose, there are two different types of fittings, 45* fittings are automotive and 37* fittings are for faucets and toilets etc. They cannot be interchanged. If it is sold as automotive hose then it almost certainly has the 45* fittings. You generally have to match the brand of hose with the fittings because different hoses have different hose rubber and braid thickness and the mfg sells the fittings that match. There are generally speaking two different types of hose/fittings, push-lok type and crimp/nut+olive type. Push-lok is cheaper and easier to make, but it is generally less flexible before kinking and it holds less pressure before leaking. It also doesnt come in SS as far as I know, just rubber and nylon braid. Nut/olive is generally your SS braid hoses. Push-Lok type hose assembly: Series 8000 Push-Lite Hose Cutting & Assembly I generally get Brown and Miller Racing Solutions SS braid hose, its really easy to work with. I cut the hose with a metal cutting wheel on a angle grinder, use tape around the hose and it doesnt fray at all. Screw that cutting it with a saw bs lol. For cheap premade hose I use AN PreMade-6 Hose Extras | ANplumbing.com its solid hose for cheap and you get to spec the length and for some sizes the hose end (straight or 90*)
