| Not Ranked : 0 score wait a min..... back to the 3" MAF again.... wouldnt a 3" MAF lean the car out more ?? by increasing the ID of the MAF housing you are giving the air more room to travel through and slowing it down as it crosses the sensor. the slower the air goes, the less fuel you will get. |

(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score i do have a 3" maf, its part of a txs unit, not cut. I bought it from 'craighjr'. it is NOT 3" I.D. Its dark out now, but I'll be in the car driving tomorrow for a good 3-4 hours. I'll film videos on the way home for sure. I'm sorry guys. I've been swamped this week and honestly, I'm exhausted from the install. Its great to see the car running and it feels amazing, but I'm so sore, and I've had less sleep this past week than I have in the past 6 months. I'll snap some pictures late tonight. I know I don't have anything proving the turbo is on, but it is. I promise

| If the MAF is properly designed, the car will NOT lean out because your inlet diameter has increased. Remember, as long as the sample tube within the MAF is properly calibrated to the inside diameter of the larger pipe, lean conditions will NOT exist. If Jon is seeing 10-11's with 15psi, i would say it is working just as it was designed.

| Even a cunt hair, aka, 1 micron, can throw a sensor off. It may be that CS didnt make the sample tube long enough to compensate for the diameter of the pipe they used, OR the actual housing the meter sits in, needs cnc machining.

| Well keep in mind that Dodge knew the car would be a hit, thats why they made it easy to tap the ecu for tuning and released warrantied stage kits. It was just a matter of time. Before they released the CSRT, they contacted the aftermarket, gave them cars before they were being sold just to get the parts ready. Mazda, being in bed with Ford, its not a surprise to see them lock this car down. Company's like Diablosport who do chips have a very hard time coming to market releasing tunes for Fords, unlike SCT who have a lot of friends at ford directly and get the rom's handed to them for $10K by the insiders. Just give it time. Mazda will be releasing the Mazdaspeed Miata with the same engine, which should pull more interest into the DISI market.

| No link, i heard it from the regional mazda vp yesterday when i was looking for information on a CX9. Im looking to get an Audi Q7 for an additonal ride. Im not to impressed with the CX's for the money they want. By the time you option them out, youre in the german territory. Besides, a Miata is a queer's car, even though its RWD, we will make fun of you!

| Not Ranked : 0 score A friend of mine actually let me drive his S2000 for a day. I let him drive my SRT-4. In the end, when we traded back we both loathed the Honda and loved the Dodge. I am 5'11" and the S2000 was still barely manageable as far as my size vs comfort. I have also driven a Miata around the dealership and they are even smaller. Like Pontiac Solstice small (which is like stuffing yourself into a go-cart with a shell around it). I would have to agree with the statement that the Miata (or any convertible roadster type with a 4 banger) is gay as hell. DON'T DO IT!!!!! If you were to trade this car for anything, at least make the trade worthwhile. The new STIs are sure starting to look good......... |

| Not Ranked : 0 score Yep bitches, little 4 banger Miata's are gay ... but isn't that part of the big fun when you mob past 'bigger' bitches in their Mustangs, Vettes, Evo's, WRX's, etc ?? It sure as hell was for me!! I laughed my ass off every time I ran someone and they got ass raped by a "Miata" ...bitches used to actually get mad at me because they got dusted by a Miata. I sold it a few years back, regret it and miss it ... '93 1.6 bone stock block w/custom Bell Eng. system 4 turbo, HKS Super Dragger, racer intercooler, Hahn Racecraft custom fuel system (4 addt'l inj), etc, etc ... drag radials + 110 octane = huge fun in 2100 lb car. Gay or not, it was one of my favorite cars to drive/drag... I had no shame to drive a girls car outfitted like this! Bitches ... ha ha ha |

| Not Ranked : 0 score 13.2 @ 105 on drag radials, not a rocket ship, but being such a small car the sensation of speed and torque was pretty incredible. Plus 4-5 years ago, cars out of the box were a bit slower than today. |

| Not Ranked : 0 score I believe it, there is a hillbilly in S.Wisconsin that transplanted the turbo Omni motor into a shit bag Dodge Caravan with wooden side trim that runs low 12's high 11's. I mean this thing looks like a total barn find shit box but it goes like hell. He runs it a Union Grove, WI from time to time. |

| Not Ranked : 0 score Anyone that thinks small roadsters are gay must have insecurities about their own sexuality. It's actually the purest way to drive and the most fun you will ever have in four wheels. Ever heard of Lotus? I would hardly call the old Elan's gay, and the Elise is far from gay. Sorry to get all serious, but I hate when people call miatas gay. (but they do look pretty fruity, lol).

(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score alot of you guys know me, and know i'm not one to lie or disguise the truth. i have no reason to. this is the internet, i don't even REALLY KNOW half of you guys, although I consider 3 or 4 of you guys close friends. anywho.... i was driving back to dallas today from stillwater, its spring break (woohoo!!!!). I've been staying out of boost and letting the car do its adaptation (maybe its in my head?). I had 2 CEL's this morning, 1 for system lean at idle, some leak somewhere, very minor because my wideband shows 14.6-14.8 at idle - and another for no catylitic converter. no biggy. i went to autozone and got those scanned and cleared, and hit the road. About 150miles later..,... just south of norman, ok - i downshifted to what I thought was 4th, from 6th, at about 65-70mph, just cruising. I don't want to PUSH the car too much until I am extremely comfy and all CEL's and quirks are non existant. Unfortunately, I believe I was in 2nd gear instead of 4th. (dumbass). Before I could truly react, I wrapped up almost instanenously to 5k and 6k, whcih is the highest I saw the tach go. POP. I coasted into the left grass shoulder and popped the hood, after turning off the car. I looked around, nothing seemed out of the ordinary. No oil or coolant tracks through the grass from the highway, nor was there fluids collecting under the car whatsoever. I have a bit of coolant, less than maybe 1/2 a cup, dispersed at the bottom of the front of the plastic undertray below the motor. Its actually near the front near the radiator, as shown in the pictures. To be honest, I flipped. I have an oil light on, as well as coolant IIRC, and of course a CEL. Oddly enough, for experimentation, I attempted to start the car, and did. The car would not rev at all, but it would idle just fine, and wideband was reading proper a/f. After many discussions with Randy, JohnDavid (best friend from home) and William (another great friend from home) - I have decided to conclude that I blew the transmission. I don't have the keys to my car right now, I'm actually sitting in the dealership lounge area, so I can't check for which lights are on, nor can I scan codes... (I DONT HAVE BUT AM BUYING A DASHHAWK TODAY), so I don't know what all lights are on nor do I have conclusive evidence of exactly what went wrong, nor the side effects. I was driving completely out of boost at the time, AFR was spot on, and EGT's were about 1200degrees. After long thought, not seeing the tach show past 7k, I think i may have blown the transmission. My buddy william is convinced at 98% that thats what happened. JohnDavid's good friend from high school blew a cobra transmission shifting from 4th to 1st, not 3rd, and nothing else. I don't know what to say. I'm really in shock at the moment, and know that this was directly related between my hand and the shifter, furthermore to the transmission, not the big turbo upgrade. I was in shock today, and explained all the new mods to mom and pap - but assured them that under the circumstances, the new turbo and exhaust have nothing to do with the turbo upgrade. They are driving up as we speak to pick me up from the dealership. I think I may bring up the extra motor, trans and head tomorrow to the dealership and set in the corner in case they need them - I'll be out of town all throughout this next week. In all honesty, the turbo wasn't the cause of this. I was out of boost, and I've been getting on the car underboost for 3 straight days, probably over 15 2nd-4th/5th pulls. I'll update the thread when i have more information. Here are some pictures for you guys.... start the discussion. If you wanna call me an idiot for misshifting, go ahead, that is the only thing that happened, and I know it sucks. My debate within myself is.... "Did I blow the motor and smack a piston to the head?" or "Did I blow up 2nd gear in the transmission?" or, "Did I do both?" Either way, I thankfully have all necessary replacement parts for everything, so the cost will stay somewhat low. The dealer is going to take care of all of the labor, and I'm providing all of the parts, very very cool. I may go ahead, since everything will be separated, order a clutch and get the dealer to put that in as well - if its just the trans. Decisions decisions. Once again, here is pics, start the discussion. There can be no 'I told you so's' until I know exactly what is wrong with the ride.... ![]()

| Not Ranked : 0 score After all our discussion, Im convinced more than ever, it has something to do.... with the weight of the stock wheels. They simply are to heavy for this setup. |
