Default BIGGER TURBO MBC OR EBC ?

I Have Question about my turbo and external waste gate set up.. currently i have a 06 ms6 and i did a t3/t4 turbonetics turbo with a external waste gate. my question is should i run MBC or use the oem EBC with a Cobb ap. im pondered because most of my evo and mr2 buddies say run MBC but others from the mazdaspeed forums say dont. The car runs fine as of right now but i have boost set at 5 lbs. HELP !!!!!

I use a grimmspeed ebcs because I just like the detail I'm able to tune with it.

You've got me concerned, OP, because if you're not taking the car to a shop with experience tuning the MZR DISI, you're likely in for a shitty tune.

MBC is fine if you want to go that route.

I would run a MBC with an AP. There are some load cap issues that the big turbo guys are facing right now. With a MBC, you will be able to avoid some of the complexities of tuning with EBCS.

If you want to go EBCS, I would suggest upgrading to the grimmspeed.

Edit* beat me to it

IDK, the turbo sits pretty low in there but it might come down to the distance between the head and firewall that would give the 3 a problem.

edit: It might could work if the manifold to turbo flange was clocked forward to where the turbo was almost touching the valve cover. It would be a very tight fit though and you would def have to have some stiff mounts to keep motor from rocking turbo into the fire wall... lol!

But something tells me it isn't that simple...

i believe our distance from the fire wall is the same. if so you will be fine as long as you dont do a gt4071r or something of that size.

i have a custom dp and its only two issues not long enough at the bottom bend off by like 1 1/2 inch and the elbow from the v-band needs to be cut down for clearance of the a/c line and relocating the buds other then that im running ok for now.

So, my next question would be which is safer to do beside a good shop to take it to the MBC or the grimmspeed EBC?

Get a good MBC like the grimspeed and youll be set. I think the hallman pro is good also. If you get a cheap one youll have boost spike issues like I did. Nice top mount turbo man. glad more people are doing it and that mani is way cheap compared to my steedspeed jeeze

I personally like the ebcs over mbc. The only guys that are having load cap issues are tuning with the boost toggle off in atr and the are running e85 mixes which scales the maf and have higher calc load readings. Some of us have been load tuning with the toggle on and having good luck. EBCS gives a lot more options of what you can do for your tune. You can run a a tune that inceases boost with rpm, which will I like on a BT setup, so you can control wheel spin and tq in lower rpms. You have a speed6 so wheelspin is not as big of an issue.

I would be cautious of which shop tunes your car. Make sure they are familiar with the mazdaspeed platform. I've found few shops that tune these cars fluently.
