is it as simple as just a reflash or would it require a re-tune. I'm pretty sure its locked btw.

Start with just a resave of your map with the new version of ATR and change the Max Load A & B tables to 3.0

I have done that on two cars and it was an immediate improvement to AFRs.

Of course IF the tuner scaled the maf to combat the load cap, bet he didn't, then a recal of the maf and AFR tuning would polish off the tune.

Edit. Post up a WOT log and we can tell if you are Load capped

True. If your not capped it won't make a difference

Edit: if you have any doubt post up a log. From your mods it could go either way. if you added and IC I bet you would cap. For those ECUs that do have it, it comes in around 185 in summer and 190ish in the winter so I personally don't believe it is a hard cap but a caculation of sorts. This is from personal experience with my car. Back in Feb I was capped around 195 and as recently as 1 month ago I was capped around 183 with no hardware or software changes.

Unfortunately you didn't log Load but your AFRs would indicate no cap.

Hey Dano, what's the highest reading you will get from the stock MAP sensor? I remember with my K04 seeing 23's, but always wondered why my Defi would read higher. Today I ran an experiment where I lowered boost to where my Defi would read 21, and voila, it read 21 on the datalog. But, when I ran an old map that showed 24-25psi on my Defi, the datalog showed 22.77. Am I clipping my MAP sensor? I thought the MAP sensor could read up to 25psi.

I think 25PSI is the upper end of the stock MAP but at that point it isn't very accurate. IIRC about 23 is where things start to get fuzzy which your log supports.

It's a 250kpa absolute MAP sensor. Which means 21.75psi of boost pressure with just a little bit of headroom above that. It will not read 25psi.

learn something new every day...if you pay attention that is!

So with a larger map sensor is some trickery needed to get the ECU to read it?

Default Boost Surging

Anyone have any ideas on this one. I have deviated away from my multi gear tuning and am working strictly on 4th gear tune in prep for my dyno runs. Logs started out in the 16 PSI range and finished up around 7KRPM at 19. So I ramped up TRL to get boost quicker and went thru a few revisions with good results increasing base boost around 4K from 16 to 18 with my goal being 19-20. This latest version was tested today with two runs and the car was obviously surging during my pulls and it can be seen in the logs.

From what I have read a lot of guys use an .035 pill and I am running a .030 which was a left over from me trying to achieve boost [long story covered earlier in this thread] . Could my pill size be causing this and it is too small?

I also have my WGA preload at max so is this one symptom of that? I haven’t seen this behavior in any of my other logs and only started once I got my 4th gear boost up above 18PSI for an entire 3-7K pull.

I have not yet checked any of the hardware and just completed this run. WGDC doesn’t look like it is trying to compensate for a leak and my TRL is all above 2.0 load and you can see some dips into the 180 and 170s even.

WTF?

I had some boost bounce when I had my 8psi spring completely preloaded. I have a guess that small corrections needed to hold constant boost pressure are not easily achieved due to the preload, so you get big drops, then over correction. I only have a touch of preload on my 14psi iwg, and it's pretty steady. I know you have lower wgdc%'s, but I would think 80's is acceptable? I think you should try the larger pill and backing off some of your preload. You will have no problem hitting 20 psi with an 035.

I was afraid of that. I'll have to make a few changes and give it another try.

I think I'll just remove a few turns of preload and change the pill

Any progress on flattening out your boost issue? I've been calling around like a madman to get on a dyno, and everyone around here is booked until the end of time. I would love to find a used dyno somewhere, get a few buddies to invest, and start making a killing off of the damn thing! I saw a used Dynojet for sale for 11k! It would pay for itself in 48 1hr sessions if nothing broke on it!

none yet. I have adjusted the WGA preload twice now with little effect. Only two turns each time but I would think something would have changed besides my WGDC going up slightly.

I think my pill size must be at issue and will change out the 030 for an 035 next to see if that corrects it.

you have all your stuff ironed out?

i'm really close. My downstream 02 sensor took a crap (long story), so I'm putting in a new one today, so mechanically speaking, everything is solid. I have a couple tune issues to work out still, trying to only reference load by gear. I can't seem to get that to work right. I'm currently spiking 24psi, and holding 22-23 with no kr. I'm thinking the 8.8 compression and 2 step colder plugs are keeping the kr away with that much boost.
