| Not Ranked : 0 score Your fail checklist for the day: Don't Search.... Don't donate....Check Revive 9 month old thread....Check Be a brownie....Check Check It seems like you searched so I'll actually respond. The performance between a SRI and CAI on the MS3 is negligible. The CAI has more issues with fitment, water, tunes so why bother with it? Having dyno sheets & track times to show a possible 1-2hp difference between intakes is a waste. The SRI is the way to go. When you look at your spectrum of mods, the intake is one of the easiest decisions you'll make. |

| Not Ranked : 0 score Mod should close this thread. This debate is always endless and mostly pointless. Either SRI or CAI produces killer gains over the stock intake -- 15-20 whp gains. Huge. Best mod for the buck. The differences in performance are largely illusory. I will say that as a CAI user with an intake I can and have run in both CAI and SRI mode, the only reasons I tend to run it CAI are that it is quieter that way and because I always get ambient temp air, especially when held up in stop and go commuter traffic. Engine compartment temps rise 30-40 degrees over ambient in just 5 minutes of those type of conditions and this does make a difference in throttle response, but only for about the first 30 seconds. If you are not driving regularly in those conditions and like the sound of the SRI over the CAI, then there really is no meaningful difference.

| Not Ranked : 0 score I didn't bother reading the past 4 pages but from my own personal experience the difference in power out put is negligible. I went with a short ram because: 1. Cheaper 2. Easier to install / uninstall 3. Almost no chance of hydro lock (it can be difficult to tell exactly how deep a puddle is especially at night and or in a different part of town, etc.) 4. Easier to clean 5. Throttle response seems a bit better |

| Not Ranked : 0 score i got he mazdaspeed CAI if I knew it was negligle when i bought it i would have gone SRI, easier to replace filter and less chance of water getting sucked in. since the mazdapseed CAI i in front of the left wheel. i have read stories so it does make me a tad nervous in a big down pour or big puddles.

| Not Ranked : 0 score A slightly better throttle response and louder noise is great for your friends. Had a Sri when I had my intrepid/boat and when it was warm out (70f?) and add some stop and go's and performance dropped, but it sounded cool lol. For a DD I personally go with a cai, stock for winter (where warmer air is better).

| Not Ranked : 0 score The compartment for the filter for the cai setup does need some modifications to stop hydrolocking. For one the wheel vent on the drivers side needs to be blocked and an air duct can be made at the bottom. No more dirty or damp filters for me and all pwr

The short answer is that you'll have to run a customized tune for either of those intakes, so you should probably think about how much money you want to dump into the car when you clearly don't have much of a concept of what each part does.

| Not Ranked : 0 score Short answer: CAI is a waste and a 3.5in will be under utilized on a k04. It's impossible for me tell tell what mods you have but a CAI is a huge waste. If you want cooler temps, spray meth. I assume you're on a stock turbo and a 3.5in is overkill. You'll run out of turbo before you hit max efficiency of the 3.5in. I switched from a stock sized intake to a 3in and then to a 3.5 and saw virtually no performance boost from a 3in to a 3.5in and the performance boost from the stock to 3in was marginal at best. The biggest bump was from the RP.

| Not Ranked : 0 score And people wonder why this forum gets so jaded with these kinds of threads. Dumb shit like that is posted in these threads and its so stupid that no one even tries to refute it. Years later someone necros the thread and without any kind of reference, you're just left scratching your head as to how that statement was made. I think, maybe? he was referring to the overboost condition that may happen (depending on tuning) with too much cold air? I dunno, that guy seems like he eats paint for a living soo who the fuck knows. I assume natural selection ran its course and he no longer has a speed..

| Not Ranked : 0 score OP just doesn't get it. Opening a 6 year old dead thread to get an answer to a stupid question already answered many times over is: 1. Very poor forum respect. It is insulting. 2. Lazy, expecting others to do work easily done by searching. This will get you groaned big time, and far less likely to get help in the future. Don't you see that? And, when called out, you persisted with the question anyway. There is more information and experience here on these cars than anywhere on the planet. Just don't ask to be spoon fed like a titty baby on basic stuff you can find in five minutes.

Your inferiority complex is probably a sight to see in real life. You strike me as the kind of person that gets aggro the moment someone says anything that threatens your sense of accomplishment. You are the kind of guy that more than likely mistakes the cordial exchanges people have with you as respect but really, they're laughing at how big of a joke you are. I mean, honestly, how old are you? Come fight me comments on a forum because someone shit in your comment cereal? Grow the fuck up. I'll await the "you don't even know me" comment because its true, I don't but based on the small sample size of comments I can already tell you're a huge douche 90% of the time.

Then what? You'll beat someone up because they said something mean to you? Go to jail, because you want to act tough? Yeah, exactly what I thought... faggot.
