(Thread Starter) | Neutral : +1 score VIDEO UPLOADED (youtube) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=teRKc...ature=youtu.be (uploaded on a friends account, don't mind the random dubstep on his channel) So the pull sucked, the tune sucks and the mic sucks, but heres just an idea of what the exhaust sounds like. There is literally nowhere in a 20 mile radius of me that has a good spot to shoot some pulls..cars will always be present(sometimes security guards *whistle*) and there is always a limit to the amount of space and the quality of the roads..plus the ringing that you hear in the background was from a factory located about 35 ft away from the camera.. --------------------------------- Alright gents' as some of you already might know I finished my DP+CBE install last weekend and figured I'd throw up a bunch of pics and maybe a video if my Thunderbolt will pick up the sound decently <-- (NOPE!) I AM A NOOB! but hopefully, after this DP install, I can graduate to the next level..I'm making this thread to show anyone can do these things, THE RIGHT WAY, as long as they persevere..I'm a computer guy, only recently have I began to do anything more involved than oil changes, alternator swaps and headlight bulbs.. This is NOT an install thread, I'll throw some tips in here and there, but this is better described as a review thread. I'll add one thing now, have a friend, someone to help you with removing the DP..I did it alone because I'm a loner..and I made several songs entirely composed with only swears..my hands are beat to shit(nothing new) and my patience was incredibly thin.. For the Catted DP and CBE(stainless tip) it was $600 shipped..can you beat that? I don't think so. The build quality was top notch, there were a few problems with the shape of the bell mouth, but other than that, install was a breeze..it was taking out the old DP that really gave me trouble..of course. Another gripe I had, which other members confirmed that mine was not a fluke, is that the alignment of the Midpipe to the DP was absolutely terrible, offset by almost a full 1/2"+...it still makes a seal but I just don't like the looks of it..bugs the fuck out of me..so it's a good thing its underneath the fucking car. One big tip at this point: JACK YOUR CAR UP, HIGH! I had my car on jack stands and it only gave me a little room to work (see pic at the end and lol@me)- this fucking sucked, I'm 230 lbs and built like a fucking tree..getting under the thing was hard enough let alone taking apart my entire exhaust.. which by the way, I ended up cutting out, saved the Cat though..using a corded sawzall and shorty metal blade. So, enough with the talking, here's the pics and shit: For those of you sporting 15" monitors I apologize, I left the pictures large because I personally hate squinting..and I have dual 24" monitors ha! MY BFF: Bring Torches, I do a lot of soldering and I know propane is shit unless you like sitting there for 10 minutes on a single joint, POLYPROPYLENE FTW! Had some nuts seize on the studs and this helped immensely Preview CNT Catted DP, CNT CBE Stainless Tip Holy Muff' Batman! Good welds!(shitty picture )MY helper, she was there for the pics but not the install..not that she could help much, shes only good with one pipe ![]() Old DP, Exhaust...ooo so ugly! ( The 1 1/4" Black Pipe in the picture doubles as a massive breaker bar as well as a BullyBeater! ) New pieces Installed, SO SMEXY! Next few pics document the difference the midpipe to DP flange size difference.. And...LOL@ me= I hope someone, somewhere can take something from this mess of a thread, but the CNT turboback setup sounds pretty awesome, I wish it was a little throatier but fuck..I drive a 4 cyl...haha Headers INCOMING! THANK YOU for Looking!

Like I said before, for a 4 cyl its sounds amazing. Its plenty deep enough I just wanted a little more chaos in the sound haha I'm fucking picky with my ears, attribute that to years of music production.
We should meet up some time. Hell if you get your CNT DP I'll help out if you need it..as much as I hated doing mine, I feel like I could do it all again in half the time.

(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score I'll see who I can find around here with a decent mic on their video camera. My cell takes great still shots but the mic on it is terrible for hearing exhaust qualities. There is a small, but noticeable difference, once I get my ATR fully dialed in I'm sure the butt dyno will really be tinglin' But at the moment, I flashed OTS Stage2, I'm seeing times lowered significantly from 0-60, 35-75mph etc I still need to re-calibrate my MAF and then hopefully some Vet here will adopt me and my baby ![]()

| Not Ranked : 0 score haha...your helper couldn't figure out how to get past the exhaust in order to access her feeding bowls. I keed, I keed. really though, nice job man. I got mine for 628 shipped, which I thought was more than worth it. AND you didn't even break an 02 sensor. Bravo to that.

| Not Ranked : 0 score what did you buy for a new wideband? Mine actually broke and we replaced with an NGK short term. I don't know if all 02 sensors are created equal or what...but I haven't heard crap about NGK (02 sensors, at least), they just happened to be available at the time.

(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score Hehe all day to do the DP+CBE I was by myself, read through the thread, I think I covered most topics, except for the fact that it took a ridiculously long time. My biggest problem was obviously getting the old one off..when backing off the 5 main nuts(on the studs) make sure you grease em' up good and take your time..you don't want to fuck those up. One seized nut took me nearly 45 minutes to get loose..they are a fucking PITA Other than that, make sure when putting the new DP on, you don't tighten the nuts down until they are ALL on the studs. Good Luck **EDIT** Oh and do yourself the favor of jacking it up more than a foot..

| Not Ranked : 0 score I'd say the sound got 2x louder after a month. Idle: just a bit deeper and a touch louder Mid range: 2x louder under load up to around 4K 4K+ : about the same as at time of install bottom line: under load up to 4K it will get much louder but not too loud IMO

I love that this setup sounds good and deep but isn't too loud..idle is still pretty loud, but I didn't want to be "that douche" that rolls in at 2 am and wakes up the entire world. Glad you enjoy yours as well.

| Not Ranked : 0 score I would say mileage is what makes the difference. I too noticed it getting a bit louder around 600 but it will continue to get louder than that under load. Nothing that will wake up the neighbors though. ![]() High idle is fairly loud now but normal 8-900 rpm idle is not much louder than OE. IMO it's a perfect balance of performance and sound without being too loud and remaining respectful to the neighbors. Tappin

| Not Ranked : 0 score OP, perhaps you can speak to this as well. I installed my CNT (catted) TBE last week or so and 4th gear seems really flat to me. Car used to pull pretty good in 4th and now it doesn't seem to pull much at all...however 5th pulls way harder than before. I flashed to a stg2 OTS as well. no logs as of yet as I was learnin the ECU a good one. But I should be good to log and go WOT at this point. Regardless, was wondering if you experienced the same/similar?

On the butt dyno it actually felt like I was slower than before the DP install. Even after flashing Stage 2 mind you. What I suggest is you start your custom tuning. This is where the gains can actually be seen and felt. I am assuming the OTS maps, in regards to stage 2 especially are quite conservative. The DP opens up a lot of power, one of our best gains we can do to this car- so it only makes sense that you'll have to tune accordingly. I've only begun to tune this myself and I'm noticing incremental gains, in time I am hoping to see the full 'fruits of my labor' Good Luck

| Not Ranked : 0 score My car felt crazy slow at first...then I saw I was only pushing 9lbs of boost...then I realized I forgot to tighten the CP hose haha. Anyway, I'm glad I'm not crazy. I need a perm.
