Cobb FMIC v2 - Out of stock.....Turbo XS?

Long story short Cobb is out of stock as well as the 20 or so shops I called over the last couple of days. They will be out for 12 weeks or so. I pretty much have my heart set on Cobb so I am wondering if anyone has ordered the v2 piping kit and used a different core. I looked on Spearco's site and it looks like 5-312 is an exact match. Can anyone confirm this? I called Cobb and they are looking into it but I just thought I would try here to see if anyone had any input or other options. If Cobb doesn't work out I am probably going to get the Turbo XS kit. Those of you running the Turbo XS can you run it with MSCAI?

not sure but i think cobb uses spearco cores...

thats why they remove about 400 bucks when you just get the piping kit...which is how much a spearco core would cost. it is also the same exact dimensions with the same style endtanks and mounting points.

Update: Ordered core from Treadstone. I went with the tr8l which had almost the exact same core size and very similar if not exactly the same endtakes. I will post once installed to see if it was a "true" replacement.

treadstone is an awesome choice...good quality and decently priced. i believe the only difference between the cobb and treadstone is that the tr8 core is 2" shorter than cobb.

Any updates? Does the cobb pipe kit come with mounting hardware for the core or is that up to you?

The Cobb V2 Piping kit comes with every thing you need. The TR8L cores end tanks only has one tapped hole wiith a for a single larger screw. The only thing I had to do is slightly drill out the top hole on the intercooler bracket so a larger bolt could be used. I had some bolts in the old coffee can collection that woked so I am not sure what thread the were. I'm sure you could get it from Treadstone though. I wouldn't hesitate to do it again. Worked great.

The Spearco core will work for you although there are changes to the core itself between that one and the one that we have offered in the past from COBB. The kit is on back order do to supplier issues with the core. I've been doing everything I can to get a new core in the works that will match or exceed the performance of the previous one.
