With either turbo, the minimalist approach would be adding a 3-port EBCS for better boost control. With a conservative tune you can run the stock downpipe although I do recommend running a test pipe (secondary cat delete).

Thanks man for the input, greatly appreciate it! At this rate, I'm inclined towards the CST4 because of better pricing. Also because of the dude above you saying his has been running 2 years strong.

I would purchase the TP but don't want to risk emissions (not sure if i'll pass smog in NJ).

Tomorrow I'll be purchasing the CTS4, the EBCS, and an AP + Freektune since I already have my HPFP, RMM, and CS TIP/AEM CAI. Around the summer I'll invest in the ETS TPIC & possibly go for the CS TP (very hesitant).

Last question, I see everyone goes with the grimspeed EBCS but there are more options, is this also a brand preference thing? or would you recommend another one? If there are multiple posts on this I'll keep researching.

Thanks man! I'll more than likely go with the CST4 so I avoid having to purchase a new intake. Plus you gave me the warm and fuzzy's knowing yours is still going strong.

I just swapped my smoking k04 for a CST4. I also installed a corksport catted downpipe at the same time. (I already had an intake) I'm still early in the tuning process (I purchased a freektune) but at higher rpms it's quite noticeable. But it also is a bit sluggish compared to the k04 in the 2500-3000 range. Hopefully this gets better as the e-tune progresses (we are starting very conservative due to high mileage of my car) just my initial observations.

You’ll make substantially more power than the K04 when the tuning is completed, but you are not going to get the responsiveness in the low rpm range that the K04 had. It’s a trade off. The larger wheels on both the compressor and impeller side make more power, but spool will be slower. The big downpipe will not just make more power, it may help with spool sluggishness, since it will offer less downstream exhaust restriction to flow.

EBCS from JBR is cheaper. It the same MAC brand valve that Grimmspeed (and others) use and it's more than adequate.
You don't need anything fancy like CS EBCS. We can't alter the wastegate frequency on the factory ECU to take true advantage of it. It does look and mount nicely though.

I went with the Grimmspeed ECBS because it was of established quality and because there really was no other alternative to the plastic nippled OEM part at the time. JBR’s version had not been released then. They all do pretty much the same thing. I just wanted metal nipples and easy mounting. Were I doing it today, I’d probably go JBR. I have other JBR parts and they’ve been top quality.

I have a JBR silicone intake, JBR EGR delete, and JBR EBCS. No issues.
