Default Cosworth/ Godspeed intake manifolds

go to cosworthusa.com and you can see the manifold. i seen it like a year or two ago but thought it didnt fit our motors.

the god speed manifold looks to be a exact clone of the cosworth and its only $300.

they look like the would flow some serious air, but i dont know much about intake manifolds.

also on cosworth site there is many more parts and upgrades for our motors, heads, crate engines.

there is a guy on the other thread, the EFR full race thread also stating he is doing a speed build with the manifold and it fits fine.

also i seen some pics of the godspeed manifold with the cover plate off and it has the trumpet horn things inside. (not sure what they are or do) but on the cosworth site it talks about it.

The only IM I see for duratech/mzr on the cosworth site is an n/a manifold.

one good thing i read, like 5 pages on, was the god speed one is the exact same clone as the cosworth. close to same quality ect.... and its only 300/ 260 on ebay.

dont get me wrong, it might not fit our motors at all.

still need to do more research on this.

The trumpets you're referring to are called ITBs individual throttle bodies. Great for immediate throttle response on N/A builds.

The Cosworth mani would require some mods to both the head and the IM, the port injection bosses would have to be filled, the tb flange would have to be cut off and a new one welded on, the IM doesnt have the same number of bolts, the flange around runner 1 may have to be modded, that IM iirc doesnt have individual runners so the head will need to be ported to have 4 intake runners, the vacuum connections are almost certainly different, im not certain where the crankcase evac port is on that IM or if it even has one.

this cosworth intake manifold is the single best intake manifold design ive ever seen for sale on the aftermarket. True F1 quality. When they first debuted this years ago I was begging them to offer this style for an evo and b series honda. they were not interested

you guys are lucky it can work... if it were my car I'd do whatever it takes to use this manifold

Might be worth looking into then.

Cosworth IM Impressions

Hmm... It'd change the cold piping a bit due to the TB angle, but other than that it seems like only some minor grinding, spacing, plugging, and drilling.

The trumpets are velocity stacks, not ITB's.

No port injection bosses on this manifold, iirc the duratec and mzr have the bosses in the head. Throttle body and head flanges can be adapted pretty simply too IMO.

I'll give it a shot, $240 on ebay is a worthy investment, even if it doesn't work, lol.

No port injection bosses on this manifold, iirc the duratec and mzr have the bosses in the head. Throttle body and head flanges can be adapted pretty simply too IMO.

I'll give it a shot, $240 on ebay is a worthy investment, even if it doesn't work, lol.
@djuosnteisn PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE document it !

It would take alot of porting but it might be worth it. If its done like the evo head it shouldnt add any turbulence and it should add airflow since the smaller runner would be the same size as the bigger one.

Exactly man. Adapter plates would be the easy approach, assuming there's enough clearance between the radiator and mani. If not, doesn't mean plates still won't work, but they'll just become more complex, and the manifold will need to be machined.

But still... not too difficult. We'll see how it looks when it shows up. I stared at this mani for a long long time a year ago or so, and just never thought it was feasible. But i guess i've learned a lot since then lol, cause right now it doesn't seem daunting at all.

Hahaha, and i'll be test fitting on that blank head you sold me, :phillyb:

**edit**... the blank head you sold to alpha, who sold to me

Seriously though, this could be an easy slam dunk. Or a complete waste of $260 (price with shipping). Only one way to find out, hahaha.

I am friends with some of the guys at cosworth - and will try to keep you updated with any info they share with me. I very strongly encourage you NOT to use the godspeed products, they are very poorly made and I expect you will have problems (cracking, warping, vacuum leaks, etc) at least that is my experience with them. I think the cosworth part is a bargain for $750 to be honest.

I would really like to see this intake manifold work easily on the mazdaspeeds.. I will stay up on this thread, see if i can help. make sure you guys post pics!

I trust your judgement fully, and will simply use the GS for fitment purposes. If things look promising, i'll happily pay the $ where $ is deserved. Cosworth did the design work, and they deserve the money imo.

The GS piece will simply make a nice shelf ornament in the garage, haha.

I can't figure out why Cosworth hasn't seen the potential in the MZR yet to start developing stuff for us.

I met Eric Hsu years ago just after he first started working for Cosworth. Met him thru an old Nissan buddy of mine who has an online publication and some stuff. You might know who I'm talking about, Geoff, he's over in SoCal.

Wish Cosworth would step it up!

CAMS PLEASE!

Dustin I didnt know that you got a knock off im, Ive been looking for an actual Cosworth IM. The GS IM should work for a test fit though.

I hope it fits.

Probably going to have to plug the idle control valve (?) hole. Or EGR?

Yeah, just a knock off for fitment. Not ready to hack up a perfectly good cosworth manifold just to "see" if it fits, haha. This is all r+d still.

right on DJ - i like your train of thought. Just be sure not to take any critical measurements from the godspeed mani, (if you have to machine an adapter plate or something) its safe to assume there are mistakes/errors in the godspeed machining.

Wish Cosworth would step it up! CAMS PLEASE!
I am friends with Eric Hsu, very knowledgeable and experienced - a true expert in this community. He ruffles feathers all the time, hurting feelings on the regular, but he cant say a bad thing about Full-Race so we get along LOL. If the Full-Race turbo manifolds and kits sell well, we have a number of mfgs ready to make parts (ive talked to JE, Manley, Ferrea, carbonetic, kelford and now i will also speak to cossie) - they were all receptive to the idea.

not to mention sfwd1934 is working hard to get other mfgs up and building parts!

damn.. now youve got me wanting to buy these and cut them up, welding the evo head flange on there...

one of my good buddies pow-wow'd over the phone with Eric numerous times during the build and tuning of his 725whp r33 gt-r. He's definitely a helluva tuner and knows a ton of platforms well.

Glad to hear you're pushing the mzr platform with other manufacturers. Thanks a lot Geoff!

It is... but the ebay version is probably trash. Probably make you have to wait til 6k rpm til you can go full boost, hahaha.

When i get mine, i'll post up whether or not i think it's viable.
