There are quite a few options available for a PI head, even without going custom. The range of the OEM buckets goes quite a bit of ways I used to have notes on these but seem to have missplaced them. Also there are aftermarket ones from supertech which can go beyond OEM for shimming.

As for cam options for a PI heads Duratec Turbo Cams Selection here are the options.

The cosi manifold looks like it's going to require LOTS of modification to work.

I'll post up some pics over lunch, but it's far from "simply cut a few things off, bolt up and go".

Yup. But when you see the pictures, you'll understand what i'm saying. Head flange bolt holes don't even line up...

I'll get the pics ready in like an hour or two during lunch.

Kmac if you are reading through this thread did you ever get that larger tb to work?, I has been suggested to me to try out a mzr6 v6 tb?
Not giving up the disi, Im more than happy with how my car is pulling (for now) just curious more than anything? I wasnt even sure if the regular mazda motor was direct injection or not to tell you the truth. thats why I was asking. It would be nice if cosworth just made us a mani.

is it possible that you can just cut the flange off and use the stock flange insted? or will the runners not line up properly?

^^... you may be able to simply reflange, but the runner spacing is still slightly different. It would require a fair amount of porting.... and even then, i'm not sure there is enough material to make it feasible.

Here's the pics:

Overall shot 1:

Overall shot 2:

<insert shitty build quality here> The ebay mani certainly has it's fair share of flaws. The cover plate fitment was dismal. One corner fit flush, while the other 3 were raised significantly. Kinda hard to tell from photos, but you can still see how "raised" it is:

And the second i took it off, the gasket broke lol:

Lots of flash on the v-stacks. Would probably take a significant amount of time to finish em:

Onto fitment photos....

Here's a pic comparing an individual port width, surprisingly similar, despite our 2 port design:

I had an old thermal gasket laying around, so here's a shot with it next to a blank head, just to show it's valid for comparison purposes:

Here's the gasket overlaid on the Ebay mani:

Right off you can see that there are some serious differences between the two. In fact the gasket has 3 holes which aren't even present on the manifold, one of which lines up on the manifolds throttle inlet port. And if you look at the runner spacing, you'll notice that the outer runners are significantly further out on the DISI MZR. Our runner spacing is slightly larger.

Here's a close up of the center section overlay. I lined up the bottom hole:

Here's the left side (cyl 4 side):

Again, you can see how our 4th runner is further out than the duratec.

Here's the right side (cyl 1 side):

And if you were to reflange the manifold to "make" it work... you'd have to make these cuts:

Then you'd have to band-aid any potential holes by runner 4, and pipe out a section for the mazda throttle body (or w/e tbody you choose). And after welding on a new head flange, you'd have to cross your fingers and hope there is enough material to port match the runners.... which i doubt is feasible whatsoever. The casting is fairly thick (read: heavy), but not that thick.

I dunno if it's worth my time to even attempt honestly. If i have a bored day sometime in the future, i may. Or i may just powder coat it and sell it for what i paid, lol.

Or cast our own.... but we've been down that road before, hahaha.

So waiting seems like the most likely outcome.
