Default CX-7 Turbocharger in a Mazdaspeed 3?

So my turbo in my speed3 is dead and I came across one with part number L3YC-13-70Z which I believe is for the CX-7 and I was wondering if I could use this for the speed3? Would there be any fitment issues and also performance issues? I just need my car running again and the guy selling this is pretty much giving it away.

Thanks

Turbo will fit but will not perform the same. You will lose your top end. You need a K04 ending in 881 or 882.

OK thanks for the reply! How much top end are we talking about? I mean if it is a few hp i don't really care.

A decent bit, the cx7 turbo has a smaller turbine so it spools hard early then peters out. I don't have numbers but trust be you don't want a cx7 turbo in your speed. You should donate and go VIP. You will get access to the for sale section and mazdaspeed K04's pop up often and for pretty cheap.
Turbo gI likes this.

Hey do you know if a Speed3 Gen 2 turbo will bolt on to a Gen1 with no fitment issues?

It will fit. The k04 turbos on the speed 6, speed 3 (both gens) and the cx7 are interchangeable. The cx7 turbo is smaller as stated but the 6 and 3's are the same. The gen 2 turbo will most likely be a 882 which i believe is the one with better seals. The 6 and earlier 3's have a 881.
