(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score My car is basically stock, except for a MS CAI and an upgraded BPV. It's a daily driver that needs to be reliable, so I won't be part of the quest for 375hp and sub-11 second timeslips. Of course, I do like to take my car to its limits from time to time, running up through the gears to redline or occasionally trying to hit the speed limiter. Do I "need" an upgraded fuel pump? |

or Top mount/FMIC+intake + TBE you'll want to start looking into a pump. I haven't said BC because it seems that switching off the stock top mount raises the boost anyway.

| Not Ranked : 0 score if your main requirement is for it to be a DD that is reliable, then the only power mods you should consider are probably the ones you already have. there's other driveability modes that can be helpful (upgrade motor mount, suspension mods, wheels, tires, etc.), but i would definitely just call it a day on the power mods and just chill with what you have. |

| Not Ranked : 0 score If you never plan on turning up the boost, no its not needed. If you plan on adding more boost, then yes I would get one. Reason: when it comes to fuel, its alway good to have to much, to little and things go bad very quick. |

| Not Ranked : 0 score Wouldn't a DD still be doable with a TMIC/FMIC, TBE, and fuel pump? This is still bolt ons and shouldn't effect the drive to much. |

| Not Ranked : 0 score If you put an upgraded pump onto your car you will feel a difference. i dont know what else to say. It wont hesitate as much... you'll run better in the cold. You'll feel it coming out of stops at low rpm. Do you drive the car much in sub 40 temps i would do it. if you dont then maybe not. If a dp and cai gets occasional fuel cut in the cold.... then that shows how "on the edge" these things really are. I dont see how some of you guys can say you dont "need it". Do you really "need" a cold air intake or any other performance mod? if 10 engines pop before the warranty out of 1000 new stock cars this year... and the cdfp would have prevented the perfect storm.... and they give noticeable differences in the driving experience then I guess that should be a factor for you. |

| Not Ranked : 0 score Well here's an easy question to answer. Can an upgraded pump be bolted into place without any type of tuning, and will the car adapt without throwing all the fuel trims into ultra rich states? Is it similar to most low-pressure fuel pump upgrades? (As in won't effect drivability, but will prevent low fuel situations and allow for future tuning/upgradability?) Just asking these questions because the original post would seem to indicate that on general bolt ons, the owner might not be looking for any sort of flash/stand alone tuning. |

Asking the question here generated some conversation about the topic that resulted in looking at things from different angles. A message forum community that frowns upon interactive conversation of previously discussed topics quickly becomes a static website full of FAQ links.
You're right about my (lack of) aspirations for tuning this car. Messing with the ECU and boost levels scares me and quite frankly, the car is f***ing fast enough as it is! I can't keep the thing even close to the speed limit unless I set the cruise control and I find myself merging onto the highway at triple digit speeds and exiting turns at double or even triple the posted... Are there any cops reading this? :-p

| Not Ranked : 0 score ^ Just give it a month or two, it wont be fast to you anymore lol Gotta love how the human body adapts to torque ![]() Im in the same boat as you, im fine with minor bolt ons, but I dont really want to mess with boost pressures until after my warranty is expired.

| Not Ranked : 0 score Add 2 psi. If your warranty is still intact now... adding 2 psi is the most reversible, cheapest, most noticeable gain you can make. |

| Not Ranked : 0 score When you mean new fuel pump, I assume you are talking about the CDFP, right? Need one on a basically stock Speed? Nope. Want one? Yeah. My car is, for the most part, stock. Intake, catback, forge. Stock boost. Before the CDFP, I was hitting 5000-5200rpm and just falling flat on my face. Got the CDFP, car pulls clean through to redline, no drop off, nothing. My review |
