Default Exhaust gasket

When you instaled your downpipe, did you changed the gasket between the turbo and the dp. At mazda, it cost about 95$ cad.

Anyone can answer this question..

Thank you

I'm about to replace my DP, and picked one up from Mark @ SU for like $35.....probably won't need it, but figured it's cheap insurance just in case. I don't want to through the install and THEN find out after that i have an exhaust leak.

I did not replace mine. I've never replaced it any of the times I've had the turbo or DP off. I don't see any reason to do so. It's friggin metal.

If you don't want to buy one, just use Copper RTV. That stuff is amazing. Lots of high power turbo guys don't bother with gaskets...

Hey man, welcome to the forum. You may want to check out some of the new member threads and resources in the new member sub forum. They have alot of good info.

That tubo to downpipe gasket is pretty expensive, I have replaced it twice. I generally get my original Mazda parts from "Mazda Parts" | Mazda Accessories and you can find my oem part number thread in the Mazdaspeed 6 engine and transmission subforum, it is stickied near the top. Alot of ms3 and ms6 parts are the same and this gasket is shared between both cars.

By going VIP you have access to alot more of the forum including a for sale section where you can pick up parts for really good prices.

No need to replace it. Its a multi layer gasket, just like a Cometic. I bought one not knowing this from SU, think it was about $50.

Default gasket leak

I did the down pipe and fudged the threads in the turbo up, took the turbo off and just cleaned the threads with a tap. I put everything back together and while driving, heard a whiney noise under boost, quite positive its the manifold to turbo gasket. I picked one up for $20 and put it on, still making the noise. Should I have sanded the surfaces first? Or could it be something else?

You should watch out or you will get banned doing this. Putting the same post in multiple threads even dead ones that are years old. Then you'll be out a great source of information. Sorry I can't answer your question though.

I bought a new OEM turbo-dp gasket from mazda-parts.com. I also utilized Grimmspeed's Subaru multi-layer gasket for the downpipe to CBE connection. Worked perfectly.
