GI: 75mm PnP Throttle Body Upgrade!!!

there seems to be some considerable interest in the bigger 75mm TB. Its a direct PnP to the stock flange (either stock IM or the JMF mani or anything with stock bolt pattern). All you would need to do is swap 2 pins on your stock connector and change your APP/DWB tables in ATR.


So lets get a serious interested list going. You pretty much have to get one if your planning on getting the JMF mani and it would prob make a considerable amount of power on a PnP stock IM if your BT.

Price point should be between $250 and $350 because we really need to combined 2 TB's to make one and it also will include a PTFE spacer (aka same as the TIG but 1/2" thick) which is required to make it mount flush to the IM flange. These are hard enough to find so get one while you can!!!

FWIW, unless you have big turbo and major headwork done, with the JM IM, this isn't gonna do much, really, on a stock IM, stock head, stock turbo car.

you dont need any headwork or cams or anything else to benefit from this. i would say for stock turbo its a waste but even on a ported stock IM (which 99.9% of the forum has on BT), the stock TB is a major restriction.

yes exact one i was using.

its like 3.1 inches or something but a 3" coupler fits just fine and is nice and tight.

but we've got to think, is the TB more of a restriction than the stock head? The stock IM outflows the head. The head (especially the exhaust ports) are the big restriction, not the IM really or TB even.

What I'm getting at is, for stock turbo guys, or even guys with ported IM's but stock head (not even mild porting), there are better places to spend the money......yank the head, have a shop hog out both sides.....gains will be had!

lets think about this for a second. the stock TB is 60mm which is 4.37 in^2. the blade prob accounts for 20% of that area which leaves you with ~3.5in^2.

lets ROUGHLY say each port on the head is 1 square inch (its def bigger but lets go with this for now). thats 8 in^2 of total area the air can flow through.

8 in^2 >>> 3.5 in^2

your always limited by your greatest restriction. This is why i saw such big gains on the JMF mani with bigger TB vs. stock one because even though i had the mani, the stock TB was still the biggest restriction.

I might be in just because the price is stupid cheap, honestly. If I can snag 10-15whp at teh same boost level that'd be great. Especially since torque doesn't increase much overall.

Mike, Ant's head is pretty stock in terms of porting just some bowl port work I think. Removing one more restriction prior to the head will help push threw the head's restrictiveness that much more, which netted Ant gains. Its simple really.

I would be interested in this. Do you have an ETA on when they would be available? Did you just have to knock down your DBW/APP tables to compensate for the increased air flow?

ETA is prob just after new years. we have a couple cores but just need to get the spacers made and machine the bolt holes slightly.

and yes there was very minor adjustments done in ATR. i can provide you with the tables i used or u can tweak them as u see fit.

Just to chime in, I have over 10,000 miles on this TB with no real issues. Dialing it in can be a bit of a pain, but that is likely with any modification to the TB (I have seen threads where people with ported stock took a lot of work to dial in.)

The way I have mine right now, it can be a little rough in the on->off or off->on throttle between 2000-3000rpm but nothing that keeps it from being extremely daily drivable. I need to test superskater's tables to see if they provide improvements on my setup though.

its actually from a different TB altogether but it has the same connector as stock which makes it PnP.
