(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score I was talking to gsrtype1 and told him that my friend has is speed3 set at 18psi and dynod it and only gained 3whp and 9ft lb. And this is where it started. He said there is no way he only gained that little amount with his boost at 18psi. He said because if u up ur boost 2-3psi u easly gain 25-30whp. And then I told him so u are telling me all these guys on this forums who have all these mods and their cars set to 18-19psi they are gaining the majority of their power from the boost? And he goes yes u noob. I mean come on people if u where to gain that much whp from just a MBC wouldn't everyone that has a speed be over the 300whp mark? Please respond to this... |

| If you go from 15.6 to 18 psi, you will make about 17-22 hp, roughly. This of course is with a different exhaust setup and a good intake.

(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score no joe u are wrong. Because u said that it was a 25-30whp gain. And I told u this. "so if I had a stock speed and upped the boost to 18psi I would gain 25-30whp?" and u said "yes u noob" and from reamsing what this guy posted. U would need a intake or a good exhaust setup. So u are set on faliure... And u also said there was no proof of the power gains u provided me with so what I say to ur false info is BS!! |

| Not Ranked : 0 score yeah, mechanical and flow limitations aside, each 1psi is about 10hp +/- a couple. Its not exactness though due to so many variables by setup/vehicle. To only gain 3 hp, I'd say something is wrong with that. GSR post more pics you whore ... lol |

| Not Ranked : 0 score If the car were completely stock you would not realize the full benefits of upping the boost due to the factory restrictions (intake, exhaust, etc). So who is right again? lol |

| Not Ranked : 0 score Driver spooled the death out of his turbo and if you've read all of this posts you'd know he was spiking 25psi in order to hold 18psi up top. Thats a big difference than spiking 18psi and falling from there. He did have a test pipe though! |

(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score ok if u are saying u gain 10whp per 1psi then I want to see a dyno proving this.. And didn't driver311 have a modded stock air box slicks and mbc set at 18psi? And untill tall find out that 1psi difference really gains about 10whp I'm calling u noons for thinking that little psi makes that much whp. I am saying because greg has this done to his speed when he dynod it. Cobb Sri ATP BCD turbosmart mbc set at 18 psi Custom 3" turbo back And he only gained 3whp and 9ft lbs when he turned it to 18psi.. So find me a dyno that proves his wrong and I'll be hush hush bout it. |

| Not Ranked : 0 score First off, its not a rule that 10whp = 1psi. Its a generalization +/- depending on many variables as I said. Take it for whats its worth. Furthermore, just because your friend only made 3whp difference doesn't make you "right" either. There could be a problem with the dyno, his car, etc. As for GSR, this is funny. 25psi spike means nothing? That 25psi spike gave Driver a huge torque spike. Remember his dyno 370-390 ft-lbs?? Do you think you can get that with 18psi? He also had a map clamp, so no fuel/boost cut. He also was running 110 octane and big M&H slicks. If simple 18psi was all it took for a MS3 to run 12.7's all day long at 107mph dont you think there would be tons of MS3's doing just that?? |

| Not Ranked : 0 score And since Driver is being used as the measuring stick, on stock boost with his mods he was at mid to high 260whp @ 16 psi. He was closer to 300 whp at 20psi. Soooo 35 or so whp with 4psi. Bonger can do the arit'ma'tic. |

| Not Ranked : 0 score Its hard to make generalizations like this, and based on dynos on different cars. For instance, I dyno'd mine back to back with a buddy, the only difference between our cars was that I had the TRZ engine mount and Amsoil. I made 10 more whp than him. Does this mean I gained 10 whp from the mount and oil alone? Or were there other factors? Generally speaking, if you up the boost, you can get more power. Its hard to say exactly how much, even with a dyno. There could be so many other factors going on between dyno runs that the dyno may say he gained 3 hp, but he gained way more, but the IC was hot and the ecu pulled some timing to prevent knock... When I did my 3 pulls, the difference in the max power between the highest and lowest run was like 40 hp because my engine was knocking. Don't get hung up on dyno numbers. Look at timeslips.

(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score joe u think u know everything but the truth is u really don't u never dynod ur car and u have a standback sitting on a walmart bag under ur hood! And u just use ur stand back for an over priced boost controller.. With all the stuff u did to u car which is what? That over priced boost controller(which u should use to tune ur car) mazdaspeed intake, an ets top mount... And a ghetto ass exhaust system that u paid 80$ for which prolly didn't help u at all, and ur corksport inserts, with all that money I spent on that standback u should have bought a dp and u are calling me a noob? Hummmmm we will have to race and I'll show u what this noob is capiable of.. On stock boost. |

| Not Ranked : 0 score Bong, in that respect you and I are saying the same thing lol... But I'm not sure how you didn't feel the 18psi? When mine is set at 18psi 1st and 2nd gear mob, and well, so do the rest. I have an upgraded fuel pump though, if that makes a diff. When I say 18psi, I mean it hits 18 and falls a bit from there, not holding 18psi to redline. That would be like 23+psi spike to hold that. On a roll my car at 18psi hauls compared to stock boost. |

| Not Ranked : 0 score GSR this is pointless. You dont understand the difference in HOLDING 18psi to 6000rpm which takes a massive spike vs. spiking to 18psi and holding 14psi to 6000rpm? The difference is pretty huge. It took that massive spike on a mostly stock car to generate those numbers, remember that. Not simply setting the mbc to 18psi and heading out the door. |

(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score I understand shucky, I don't know how I didn't feel it.. But when I had a faulty bc on I deff felt 21psi. And I was like him spikes 30psi and holds 21psi for a while I was getting scared my turbo would have ate shit after a few runs like that so that came off. And now I have the turbosmart set at 18psi and it feels stock besides 1-3 it holds higher like at 15psi. And when I was at stock boost I use to burn through 1-2nd and chearp 3rd.. =) |

(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score like shucky said. In order to gain that u would have to get spikes above 18 psi and to hold 18psi all the way to redline. Even I can hold 18 psi to 5,500 then it falls like a monster.. Or like boost is afraid to go above of 5,500... +3 shucky |

| Not Ranked : 0 score first off all when driver went 13.7 @ 99 it was on street tires not slicks newbs. Driver claimed to dyno 311 37x and that hasnt even been close to replicated. Hell he couldnt even do it himself. He switched parts once a week caue parts were thrown on him and whatever he put on his people bought wheather it was shit or not. The more you think about it the more you realize that lil 25 shot of nitrous might have been used to attain those numbers. Esp the TQ So break it down Stock 13.7 @ 99 with street tires a good 60 12.7 with the addition of AN INTAKE cause yes he was running an intake on the 12.7, a rp, and slicks on 15 inch wheels that dramatically shortened his gearing. Have any you picked up a 15 inch raching wheel with a 24 inch slick on it? Its like 30lbs if that, compared to the 48 stocker weigth. He was saving almost 40lbs in the drive wheels alone. Now add race gas and there you have. |

| Not Ranked : 0 score well obviously and 18 psi which he said held to 5800, now in order to hold 18 psi to 5800 you gotta be pushign 24-25 in the midrange cuase the turbo will not hold 18 psi from 3000 to 6000 on a simple mbc, you would need a standback that commands the set psi and hits it if the turbo is capable |
