2 dynos to report.

267whp at 11pds.

320whp at 4900 rpms, an moving north FAST, at 22 pds.

We are adding fuel and pulling fuel easily and appear to be adjusting the tps to some degree. Problem is we CANNOT control fucking boost. The car goes to 22-24 pds no matter what we have it set on. Also our maps keep getting zeroed out when it happens.

Jordan is reviewing the setup and datalogs as we speak... my guys just pulled the car out and are going to lunch.

At this point I blame fucking ATP for selling me a 1800 dollar "boltup" turbo with no place to hook up the solenoid. Its possible it is an issue with the standback but I feel like its not. They have already tuned several gt2871s with it(ms6s) and they had to rig the solenoid a certain way. It is possible we still have to adjust that.

Plan B is MBC... although I would prefer not to go that route obviously.

Randy...NO! do not hook in the stock Boost solenoid..AGAIN NO! i said it earlier in this thread. Just run the manifold vacuum line to actuator nipple.

i highly doubt that that small ass boost solenoid can compensate quick enough with the high increase in volumetric pressure. Big no no dude when it comes to big turbos.

Dont get a mbc either, be satisfied with 14.7 psi for now to see how the car holds up. dont go balls to the wall on your very first tune.

are you serious? jordan and my tuner both havent even brought that up. How would i use the standback to even adjust boost if I did that?

they have used the standback elsewhere on gt2871's anyway, in order to control this.

Who else has thoughts on this?

i think the problem lies in the wg spring being set to 14 psi. Your would be better off running a mbc and capping of the stock boost controller.

you could try and back off the rod tension a 1/2 turn at a time to see where that leads you

I would personally use an MBC but if you are already working with the OEM solenoid and the standback, get that WAG in line and use the standback's control function

Whoosh has Loosh have the right idea here. That huge spiking is going to come back and bite you in the ass.

Why is the standback zeroing out? I dont get it.

i think thats what theyve already done. We got it to hold 11 psi in third when it made 267... ive not been right there the whole time so im not aware of all theyve tried.

your factory solenoid needs to see pressure after the turbo you may have to tap into the hot pipe on your intercooler to get that. We are running the factory solenoid still and it is working just fine. the only thing is tapping in that extra vacuum line.

oh and what are the Temps like in NC today? if its not your average year round temps you might have to get retuned.

Today is almost perfect here in Charlotte so I assume in G-town it isn't too much different. Calling for 77 as the high so it will probably be a little warmer.

I have so much catching up to do, reading all of this stuff on this site I have yet to look at. Reading here is a much better way to waste time than other places.

I wonder how many MS3's are in NC anyways, from the looks of people on sites, I see a lot from the Carolinas.

Anyway, palerider, Im glad you're modifying because it helps satisfy my urge to modify. Im trying to stay stock as long as possible. (or close to it). Looks fantastic and can't wait for the results.

Alright... so Stephen and Derek are going to kill me, but the car was on and off the dyno all day.

We screwed up the solenoid install... there was some restrictor something or other that we didnt pull off the old turbo before i sent it off. Jordan at CPE and my tuner were on the phone, back and forth all day, After fixing the issues of the solenoid we then started getting our commanded boosts. We added and subtracted fuel and there was no problems...none. The timing was played with and we played with all sorts off other parameters... mostly centered around getting a smooth power curve.

A/F was great. We had added fuel intially down low and pulled some up top.... It stayed great all the way through the session... at least 20-30 pulls. A?F was in the 10.8-11.4 range after pulling it.. We didnt get much power by pulling fuel past that.

Final numbers for today were a heatsoaked 308whp and 320/trq at 16 psi tuned. Im a little disappointed but you have to remember that I was at about 260-270 on this dyno before. That means Ive gained about 40-50 whp with the manifold, inlet, and turbo running less psi.

Car is a rocket and I make power to redline. On the dynos I dont even start to fall until about 6400. On the other dyno in town I'd probably be around 325/340 based on previous runs, so dont be too disappointed with these numbers... Im mostly excited about the gains and the way the car feels. The BPV sounds like a sledgehammer now... its awesome. Turbo spool is VERY noticeable.

And again... huge.... is the a/f. Graph looks stock except for where we played. The fuel pump is working great, and I cant say enough about the standback and how great my tuner thought it was to use.

The guys at CPE and the standback should not be written off. Fuck anybody that gives me a hard time about it too. We adjusted fuel handily, timing, boost, pid control to smooth the curves and it worked.... Jordan spent most of the afternoon back and forth with Mark on the phone. Everything worked great once we sorted out our own mistakes.

All right.... ask away if you want too. And sorry I have no graphs, pictures, nada... they will be posted later. I was in a hurry to get out of there when they got done and my wife was pissed our first day back I spent all afternoon with the car and was late getting home.

I think most of you know Im not making all this shit up though

My car is running rich as hell now again that the temps are over 50. During the day i run low 11s, at night i run mid 12s....same day, same stock tune.

All I am going to say, is you could have had pics & video with just a phone call. My office is 10 minutes from the dyno and I even ran over to Kormann to pick up some MT-90 before lunch...

Glad to hear it is running, how is the driveability?

I hear ya Chris... but bottom line is that at my current boost there was no appreciable difference in my a/fs with the bigger turbo at 16-17 psi. And we kept it nice and fat down low. temps were in the 60's today and some of the runs the car was bottoming out below 10.

I dont think a flash is going to be any different here. The stock ecu does this and the piggyback or flash is going to rflect it as well. Ive got the stock map to fall back on and if it gets nasty cold I'll park the car for the dd.

Im happy... the car made a shitton of pulls today... we had multiple runs of 20-24psi before wed pull out of it. It ran great.

I was careful shifting on the way home however..lol

I thought about calling but wed make pulls then send datalogs to CPE and wait an hour... adjust then wait again. Plus I was only there really back and forth from work myself. I got over ther finally about 4pm and Id have had to leave if Id gotten the call from work.... I was really shortstaffed today but I kept popping out anyway with as close to the garage as I was.

And dude... I dont know how to take phone pics or vids. Im a fucking idiot. I tried. I should have asked for help.

On the bright side Im going back for more tuning next week. We still want to work on the curve and jordan is reviewing a bunch of stuff. Ive got a few more surprises in the works. This just all happened so fast today and I was not prepared for it myself.
