How do you run a turbo off of the wastegate I just got my bnr s4 in and when I was emailing a company to dyno tune my car I asked them how I could drive it there with the new grimmspeed 3 port boost controller and they told me to run it off of wastegate till I get there. How would I do that? I emailed them back about five days ago asking how to do that and they never responded. |
The turbo runs off of the exhaust gasses so the waste gate lets the exhaust out. This causes the turbo not to spool and you get pulled on by that grinning soccer mom in a mini van from a light. You know the one with the kids in the back giving you the finger while laughing... The waste gate has a spring in it that keeps the exhaust gasses running thru the turbo until a particular amount of boost say... 14 psi is reached. This is called spring pressure. That means any boost over 14psi starts letting exhaust gasses spew out into the ehaust bypassing the turbo., This makes the turbo sad and slow once again. When you get tuned the tuner uses boost pressure to hold the wastegate shut longer and make many soccer moms sad and left in the dust. Quote:
FWIW if you are asking us what to do instead of this"shop" then you may want to ask yourself why you are going to them in the first place. Get a Etune here. |

Otherwise, pick any of the same E-tuners on this forum and you will get your base tune within a day or two like has been already stated. They know this platform better than any shop that tunes Evos and Subarus. |
If you want to bypass the boost controller and run spring pressure you just have to run a boost line between the turbo discharge and the wastegate. |
just unplug the two pin plug on the ebcs. |

Why are you reviving an old thread? In doing so, you dragged MSMS3 with you. Shame shame. |
