| Not Ranked : 0 score What exactly does it sound like when the injector seals are lifting? I have a friend who is getting what I believe to be phantom knock on the stage 2 tune. We pulled a bunch of timing and it didn't seem to make much difference, and he put in 100octane without any change in the knock. When it was on the dyno it didn't really sound like knock, it didn't have that metallic "ping" noise, it was more like a gunfire like popping, not 5.62mm crack, more like a .40cal handgun boom. Now he flashed back to the "stock" mode, and is only running 12psi of boost and the knock seems to be mostly gone. It's my opinion that the cylinder pressures are low enough at 12psi that the seals don't lift. Can anybody verify this? Has anyone had the seals go on a K04 car? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

| Not Ranked : 0 score uhhh, what good would a compression test do you if the injector seals wont hold compression? your results will be low because of the seal, not low because of the rings. i say if you're having a bunch of otherwise not accounted for knock retard, and nothing else has changed, and you hear/feel the popping, its the injector seals. i noticed a wide arrangement of sounds from failed injector seals. the first were more like a spark blowout pop. as i started adding power, they started sounding more like a automatic .22 going off under my hood. and a few variations in between. all of which ended up being injector seals (i went through 4-5 sets).

If you DON'T have low compression then you can rule out the injector seal!!!!! If you DO have low compression then and it is (for example cyl 3) then you know to focus on cyl 3's seal!!! Now the leak test will be more precise why, because when you force that air in there you will hear the air coming from under the intake thus letting you know that cylinder(s) seal is leaking. If you have low compression and it is due to the rings and you do a leak test then you will hear air coming out of the dipstick and not from under the intake. Also it is alot less time doing the leak test then pulling the intake to find that your seals were fine in the first place!!! | |

| Not Ranked : 0 score The injector seals let go once a major increase in power is achieved. The factory seals can fail and can cause damage to the ports in the head, they will also cause a false knock retard problem leading to the car running like crap. The oem fuel rail relief valve opens up around ~1850, and again once the power level is increased the injectors can have a problem atomizing the fuel properly in the combustion chamber. Upping the fuel pressure as combustion pressure increases will help in the search for more power. The new valve will have a relief pressure of 2250, giving approx. 22% added pressure.
