Has anyone thought of the difference in airflow between the 1.8T and MZR engine? You can't say you shouldn't rev your engine past 5800 rpm unless you are aware of the difference in airflow at that rpm related to the amount of boost. FYI Hypertech claims the EGT peaks at 800C on the stock tune, and peaks at 833 on their tune. Remember boost is not airflow. cfm numbers can very greatly at the same boost level between two motors. This information pertains ONLY to the 1.8T Volkswagen motor. I worked in the VW tuning industry for 10 years. There are so many versions of the K04 it will make your head spin. The current TSI motors from VW are making 300+ horsepower to the wheels with a VERSION of the K04. I guarantee it is not the same one used in our Mazdas.

Maybe if we owned VW's and were interested in modding them we would care, but this isn't the forum to care about it. The idea here is that MSF isn't going to be the Mazdaspeed website that continually caters to noobs. This website is the single largest source of MZR DISI tuning info, period. So really, we all started somewhere with SRI or motor mounts or ricey bullshit, but most of the people with the highest hp MZR DISI motors in the world are members here. There is vast knowledge available thanks to a wide variety of members.

So we don't want to rehash noob shit. Hence the stickies and patrolling.

I can't tell a difference by looking, but idk. However, gendone and genpu do have different pistons... I found that out the hard way

The current DISI motors from mazda are making 320+ WHP on a VERSION of the K04.

From the comments that I've heard, genpu. Apparently the shape of the top of the piston is probably better than before. I'm sure lex will be able to put out more info after he sees them side by side. Also, probably doesn't mean anything, but genpu pistons are 10 grams heavier.
