(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score I had been experiencing the smoking issue for some time now and when I took it in to the dealer on Saturday, I let it idle for 5-10 mins and it looked like their lot was on fire there was so much smoke.... The tech said there was quite a bit of oil residue in the downpipe and the intake. YAY for me!

| Not Ranked : 0 score Congrats. I have been following your story on DFW. Good to know the evil beeyotch didn't screw you. Feels kinda weird to congratulate someone for needing a new turbo, but hopefully this will help you fall in love with the car again. |

(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score Yeah, it's ridiculous to be replacing the turbo at all on a car with less than 20K miles... but thankfully it is... it didn't effect the driving from what I could tell, but would have definitely ruined my cat in the long run, if not more. For the most part it was just embarrassing to smoke like that and it usually always happened in the drive through, or any place where it would be idling for an extended period.. The people in the drive through would always gag and cough and that crap would definitely burn your eyes.... Either way, I'm very glad it's getting fixed and kudos to my dealer for having the turbo shipped overnight so I can pick up the car tomorrow!! BTW, they are going to do the cdfp flash and check it out as well!!! I can't wait to get rid of this pathetic Tribute rental and finally get back into something that doesn't take the ENTIRE on-ramp to get up to highway speeds.....(ie 60mph)...

| Not Ranked : 0 score You sound concerned. Is it "different" in a bad way? Did they tell you anything about a break-in time? |

(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score I've been gone all weekend with the truck, so I haven't driven it except for the drive home from the dealer.... I'll take it to work tomorrow and see if it still seems a bit weird.... Dealer said nothing about break-in.

(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score Okay, so I've been driving for a few days now and I can DEFINITELY tell there's something different and I still can't quite put my finger on it.... I'll try and explain what I'm seeing.... So first off, I don't get the grumble backfire at startup I once had... and I no longer get a loud drone when letting off at cruising speed.... now it seems like my whole exhaust is just... well quieter.. this may be due to the flash leaning out the mixture and the richness is now gone.... who knows... The turbo spool is noticeably different. Not sure how or how to even explain it other than it feels like a "tighter" spool and maybe a bit quicker... maybe the turbo needs to be broke in, I dunno. The first day and a half, it seemed really sluggish... the weather was cooler, but maybe the ECU needed time to adjust. Now today with it being about 85 degrees out... I managed to spin through second with traction control crap on... I don't recall doing that before, but my tires are pretty worn out.... so that could be it. Power still seems to be very temperamental and it seems to change daily... maybe a couple more days driving will give me a different impression, but yeah.

| Not Ranked : 0 score everybody should take note of this. It's good ammunition if you ever need to take your car in for the turbo seal shit. Don't let the DEALER make decisions that should be made by MazdaUSA
