| Not Ranked : 0 score Take hose from top of wastegate and pull off. Follow that to stock solenoid and pull off from there. Use vacuum caps and cap both of those. Fatter hose on bottom of wastegate, pull off, follow it to the turbo (only a few inches) and remove. You'll need 2 pieces of new hose. Attach one to the bottom of the wastegate, and the other to the nipple on the turbo where you removed the fatter bottom wastegate line from. Connect these to proper ports on your MBC. There is a write up from Laloosh on 247 regarding above. I am running mine inline with the factory solenoid (with help from loosh) and it works great and is much easier. Remove hose on top of wastegate (from wastegate and solenoid). Run new line from MBC to top of wastegate and another new line from MBC to solenoid. Done. Its really tight in there, my hands are still f'd up. Really can only get 1 hand in there unless your a midget or mutant. Good luck. And thanks to loosh as always for his help! |

| Not Ranked : 0 score what ideas do you need? disconnect the OEM solenoid and throw it away follow the simple MBC instructions add a map clamp or BCD and your car will run better than it ever has that is as long as you know how to adjust the MBC and your MBC is not cheap junk the other option is to talk to Jason at onlinemazdaparts.com and get a new solenoid shipped to you for about 60 bucks

| Not Ranked : 0 score Those nipples are damn fragile! I broke the outside 1 but just cut the thing off and connected the hose to the end. So instead of having the 2 hoses sticking up, you've got 1 up and 1 sideways. Try that. |

| Not Ranked : 0 score Shucky - With your MBC inline with the thinner solenoid hose, how does the boost behave? Is basically like the stock curve except 1 or 2 psi higher? |

| Not Ranked : 0 score I guess it behaves like well, ... a MBC should. I haven't tried bypassing the stock solenoid so I cant compare. W/out a map clamp the ECU would resort to reducing whatever boost you dialed up to keep within stock parameters. With a map clamp (which I have) there is no issue whatsoever. With the Turbosmart MBC there really isn't a "boost spike." Floor it and boost goes to whatever you set (depending on load), and gradually drops as rpm's increase. Does not have the "on/off" feeling others have reported with other mbc's. Set at 18psi, if I floor it in second gear around 3000 rpm I get about 16psi which charges hard. Haven't tested 1st gear. 3rd gear 18psi, 4th 18psi, falling as rpms increase to about 15. Haven't tried 5th or 6th. Set at 21psi, it holds about 16-17 psi up to 6000 or so rpm. The upgraded cdfp helps keep throttle open which is why this setup holds a bit more boost through the run. Laloosh has run it both ways (bypassed and inline) and he told me there was no difference that he noticed and runs it currently inline. |

| Not Ranked : 0 score Thx - I think that's what I wanna try. I really don't think it's a good idea holding peak boost 'til redline and the more I hear about blown motors the more I wanna just take the stock boost & AFR curves and just move them up a bit.

| Not Ranked : 0 score what mbc do you have? And there is no point of installing a mbc w/out a map clamp. Especially in line with the factory solenoid. The stock ECU will do everything it can to reduce any boost increase you added with the mbc. You need a map clamp. |

| Not Ranked : 0 score I was considering sending the AP back if things dont work out and just go mbc/map clamp route at 18psi. Is there a real advantage of running the stage 2 maps with mbc over just upping the boost really? With the AP i run a bit richer which might be good to keep things safe, but i dont know what i'll be at with just mbc...it may be just fine, i'd just have to see for myself when i get there. It's already not running right with just stage 2 I have a feeling upping the boost wont solve it . Not to get it off topic but right now I'm just waiting on step colder plugs and gonna see what happens from there. Getting FMIC next week and sways tomorrow! woot. My friend just got a bunch of mods for his car that I helped install and I couldnt help it anymore I just had to splurge. |

| Not Ranked : 0 score I've read the unos mbc spikes high and doesn't work well on these cars. I have the turbosmart myself and it works great. Right now, I think the AP is causing more issues than its worth. Until the bugs are ironed out I would return it and run a map clamp and mbc. I think you'll be surprised <no issues, no stuttering, no knock, afr's in check + a big grin on your face> |
