Was reading Laloosh's MBC install guide over on the 24/7 forums and have a question:

I understand why the LOWER wastegate hose needs to be removed (this is where the MBC is installed) since that's what bleeds the pressure off to the WG allowing higher boost.

But, I can't understand why it's necessary to remove the UPPER wastegate hose that runs to the solenoid and cap those items.

Can somebody explain to me what that other hose is for?

if you dont cap them off the boost will still get up to the factory boost solenoid. that will still give the car some control of boost. it can also cuase HUGE boost spike if both boost controlers attempt to bleed boost at the same time. REMOVE ans cap it..... trust me !

O.K. one more:

MAP clamp vs. MAP bleeder valve - big advantage to the MAP?

I ask b/c I have the MAP bleeder (fuel cut defender or whatever it's called) already installed and I need a damn good reason before I go snaking my hand back in there again to unbolt that little PITA.

on the protege garage MS6 they showed a huge advantage on top end power using an electronic method to stop fuel cut. the FCD bleeds out hard earned boost on an already over worked turbo. the result of bleeding boost is a drastic loss of HP over 5k rpm.

Thanks! I wouldn't think that tiny little pinhole would cost much boost, but results don't lie.

Where on eBay did you get your MAP clamp?

O.K. I have a MAP clamp on order and a Turbo Tee also FTW.

Now back to installation, now that I've done more homework, what about connecting the boost tee to the top of the WGA and capping the other end?

I believe this would have the same effect as attaching to the bottom of the WGA and capping the outlet of the WGA, but places the MBC in a more accessible position.

Tru-Boost - your thoughts on this?

it would work from either WGA port but it must come from the turbo nipple to the WGA. so, since you have to remove the lower hose that connects to the turbo, you may as well put it there IMO. if you left the lower hose connected as it is and connected the top WGA port to the WGA, where would the other end of the MBC go ?? you cant just leave it open or bleed it into the intake like the stock electronic solenoid does. it must connect from a boost source then to the WGA.
