But don't get me wrong. If leen is the only one who wants to show mazdas some then what choice would I have. The turbo is the end goal here. As long as I can run the EFR, and shit won't break, I don't care who's name is on the mani...
Exactly. I really hope we can get this going, an EFR on these cars would be awesome if someone stepped up to the manifold.

Okay guys, HUGE NEWS!!!

I just got a response from the owner of Full-Race, Geoff. He sounds VERY cool and interested in helping us out so let's show him that the market is here with the Mazdaspeeds!

Here's the email I received:

"Hello Fernando - Thank you very much for the email, I am excited to hear about your enthusiasm for the EFR turbochargers and we are certainly interested in taking a look at your platform. As you mentioned it would be greatly appreciated for you to put together some sort of interest thread/poll (as you mentioned) in order to help us gauge what it is that the community wants. Also if you could get a handle on what fuel mgt options they are most interested in: IE: do most people use COBB? What injector size? If there is anyone local in Phoenix, AZ interested in this, I'd also like to take a look at their engine bay and take some preliminary measurements.

As you know, these EFR turbos were designed from the ground up to be "revolutionary" in their design elements in everything from the materials used to the design of the flow paths (like the wastegate you mentioned). With regards to the wasteges, we have just completed a test which showed the EFR's 42mm internal wg controlling boost *better* than an external 44mm wastegate. This was very good to see, particularly since it allows a huge amount of $$ and complexity to be saved from the turbokit. Also - we were fortunate to work with BorgWarner and Ford, integrating the EFR turbos to their 2.0L ecoboost motors which i know are similar to the L-series engines, and were able to do some testing with them.

All that being said, I just registered for the forum, and please send me a link to your thread so I may start reading up and seeing peoples' comments. Thanks Fernando, talk to you soon!

Respectfully Yours,
Geoff Raicer"

I know we have some local MS6/3s in AZ so hopefully we can get FR a mule to take some measurements from so please chim in.

I'm going to start an interest poll for Geoff so please post up here:

http://www.mazdaspeedforum.org/forum/foru...-inside-72521/

Let's make this happen guys!!!

What kind of maths are involved for calculating runner length vs pulse length so that the twin scroll is fully efficient?

I'm sure there is some horribly complex equations that will give you the perfect runner diameter and length for your engine/turbo/boost, but once you work it through, good luck fitting it under your hood...

IMO, you just need to pair the cylinders properly, and try to keep the runners as close to equal length as possible--it might not get you the 100% perfect twin scroll setup, but I'm sure it'll get you 95-99% of the same performance...

I don't want to jump the gun, but there are so many possibilities. I just know that my turbo is probably already smoking and I don't even know it. So replacing the K04 fail snail with some state-of-the-art shit will be a top priority.

I think the best thing would be to try and get hold of a turbo to see how best to locate it in the engine bay. With the long outlet to the turbne it might need to be pushed over to one side substantially to make it easier to fit the downpipe.

On the + side though the turbo makes the manifold a much simpler design with no EWG ports so the price would be more around the $550 range which helps cover the extra cost of the turbo. Also don't need to spend $250 per wastegate and no need to buy a BOV so all in all this is probably the best value turbo upgrade there is.

Hence I will make this one a priority.

Right, the simplicity of it is attractive in it's own right, let alone the performance benefts.

If it can give you ATP simplicity without the ATP creep issues or EWG expensive and hassle... how could it not be win?!

I would much rather spend money on a quality turbo than supporting mods for another.

I just built a T3 flanged IWG manifold. If someone is up to the task of trying it with one of these turbos they can have the manifold for $450 shipped.

Top mount will work fine on MS6 already but no sure on these turbos with the MS3. I hear they are slimmer than an equivalent hp Garrett

I'm sure Full Race will chim in with progress and projections as things take form.

They already have the manifold prototype made, FMICs nearly completed etc so... Not bad for only having an MS3 and my MS6 in the shop for a couple weeks.

I'd post all your questions in the main thread: http://www.mazdaspeedforum.org/forum/foru...-inside-72521/

Thanks!

Nice 7 year old thread revival for no reason at all. I don't know how all you n00bs keep managing to make intro posts in the middle of other people's threads.
