Default New toys have started to arrive...

It's been in the works for a long time(actually sent the longblock to PG back in NOV), and things are finally starting to arrive.

The turbo arrived today;

Garrett GT35-82, Four inch ported compressor shround, .82 AR turbine, and three inch v-band discharge. I didn't use the mazda specific turbo because I want the full 4" inlet(which is not possible using the stock turbo placement), and I don't like haveing to work with the turbo behind the block..

I'll be updating this thread as more parts arrive and my build progresses.

I know this is a stupid question, but what is the point of the "speed holes" (Simpsons reference) on the inlet?

block is good to go minus being timed as the timing tool broke and had to order a new one. Your ports on the head are HUGE!

Awesome!!(not the tool breaking part lol...)

No worries on the delay, I'm still waiting for some other parts to show up or get made. I've got the HPFP and the boost-a-pump on the way, Carlos at CPboost is taking care of the manifold and wategate, and I'll be caling CP-e tomorrow about the flash and upgrading my standback...What's the word on the flywheel, and the upgraded coils? Did Steedspeed ever commit to making an IM?

Still hoping to get everything installed next month though.lol

So how is the turbo going to sit? In front of the block? How are you doing that (if so)?

So you are rigging up a KB Boost-A-Pump from the tank eh? I dont think Steed committed yet, but i could be wrong.

Carlos at CPboost is making manifold for me.

It will situate the turbo and wastegate similar to the manifold he makes for the N/A mazda 2.3, but the placement will be changed slightly to clear our alternator.

It should be very similar to this manifold:

I will be using a tial 44mm wastegate.

Yep, I followed the entire walbro intank pump mess, and don't want to deal with any of that crap.

I've read alot of literature on the KB boost-a-pump setup and the consensus is that it works well, so I figured I'd try it out. Judging buy the flow increase they see on the mustang pumps it should be enough for my hp goals, and if someone ever makes a drop in pump upgrade for us I'll just use the boost-a-pump on it as well...

My local machine shop managed to cut the egr port of my spare IM after I told them not to, so I'm left with a ported manifold that will throw codes. I can get the car inspected right before I take it in for the swap, but I want to replace the IM before the next inspection is due. I don't want to have to swap in a stock IM, and I defiantly don't want to pay to have my stock manifold ported...

Another package arrived today, and unfortunatly they sent the wrong product, I ordered the boost a pump, they sent the boost a spark. I called them and went right to a machine, so it looks like I might have some trouble trying to get them to send the product I actually ordered... I wish a forum sponser offered the boost a pump for sale. HINT.HINT.--edit, got ahold of them and they are sending the correct part out with a return shipping tag for the boost-a-spark...

I got some good news from Carlos today though. He said the manifold turned out great and he should have some pictures for me to post up tomorrow. He is going to be selling the manifold for ~$850, plus $140 for ceramic coating. I'll get those pictures posted as soon as he gets them to me....

Here are the pictures of the manifold and downpipe that CPBoost will be selling. $850 for the manifold plus $140 for ceramic coating, and $200 for the DP plus $100 for ceramic coating. All you'll ned to do is fab up the wastegate dump tube, connect it to your FMIC, and connect your oil and water lines...

One more picture:

Turbine housing has been removed and sent off for ceramic coating.

It's way to damn expensive to ship something to PR...

I'd like to see 400+ on pump gas at about 20psi, and somewhere near 600 with c16 at about 30 psi..

I'm thinking that 400 will be relativly easy with a safe tune--whoosh hit ~370 with the stock head and ECM, 600 will be harder, but I'm hoping that new intake manifold and some c16 should get me close.

not to shoot you down, but ud be lucky to break 450 unless u have major ecu upgrades that we dont know about....im not even going to start with the tranny, i guess ull be the first to find out when it quits.

Good luck with it all, thats alot of risk and work you got going on there

I'd be happy with ~400 until we get some more work done on the fuel system, and get a bigger maf working--I think a 4" MAF is going to be necessary to get any really big numbers, the fuel rail and return valve will probably need some work as well.

I'm going to take the progression slowly. It'll stay about 20 psi for a while, 600 hp is a long term goal...I dont expect to throw everything in and fill the tank with some C16 gas and hit 600 hp..

The motor is here!

Couple of pics of the porting in an exaust port. I'll get some more pics when I unwrap the full motor.

Work on the car starts next tuesday! I will be sending my stock flywheel off to Fidanza so they can get the lightened part made, that's going to take a 3~4 weeks, so I expect the car to be apart for six to eight weeks.
