I have no idea when I'll finally be driving again.

I'm starting to regret my shop choice, they are not near as open about me being around the shop and helping out, as they were before I dropped it off... The guy working on it is very good, but he's just not experienced with the DISI engine, and has a very high workload.

I'm glad I stopped by today though, I noticed that he didn't swap the cam follower for the HPFP to the new motor... That would have been an expensive mistake for them....

Oil and water lines for the turbo. Mount the clutch and tranny. Drop the motor back in. Design and weld the 3.5" intake and inlet. Plumb in the ECBS, AEM MAP, and fix/move vacume lines for clearance. Modify bumper and cross member to accept big ass IC core. Cut and weld all the new 3" FMIC piping. Fab up screamer pipe and exhaust..

After all that easy stuff I get to work out the kinks that always show up when doing this much work at once...

is there anyway to clean up the wiring/cables/lines? our engines look so cluttered in the bay - don't know if a wire tuck would even be worth it

I don't think there is much slack in the harness. I know we're going to try to move some of the vacuum lines near the HPFP and the driverside of the head to make clearance for the inlet and intake..

Progress:

It's slow going, but it's starting to come together... Looks like the IC piping will end up being 2.5~2.75", no way 3" is going to fit; it's not really necessary anyways.

Sure, I'd like to see a side view from the drivers side toward the engine, to see how tall the turbo inlet sits.

Its looking better all the time SS, that turbo looks good sitting in there. Just curious I dont see any kind of a tuning solution listed in your sig, what are you going to use to control the bigger maf as I dont see a SB or AP listed. Are you going to give the AEM controller a shot?

I've got a standback V2 and all the flashes.. Also have the CP-E meth controller and the aux box, but they wont be on the car until the kinks from everything else are worked out...

Click the MODS link to see the full list of my mods and not just the build list..

A little more progress made:

You can drag the car around by the FMIC--It's bracket and the new cross member are stronger than the OEM crash beam..

Cutting out the grille was a PITA...

Hey SS, was your exhaust mani Ceramic coated by Carlos? I don't think that Silver Ceramic coating is going to hold up too well... It looks like mine may be cracking already, but I'll post some pics and let you be the judge.

To be honest, I have no idea what I'm paying for it, I'm sure he spent at least 2~3 hours on it. The swap was $1500, and I think the labor for the FMIC fab work plus the exhaust fab work will be somewhere around $1500, then I've got to pay for the FMIC/exhaust materials and the turno lines....When it's all said and done I expect it to be near $4K to the shop...That doesn't include what I already paid for the turbo/manifold/dp/wastegate/built motor/mounts/FMIC core/hks ignition and plugs/big maf/EBCS/AEM MAP/and a shitload of other stuff I cant remember... I get a little disgusted when I think about it, I've got to pay the shop for all this and still come up with my down payment when I close on my house in October/November.

Yeah, he coated the manifold, DP, and my turbine.

He has a lifetime warranty on all his stuff so I guess you could send yours back to him, but I'm not sure if it covers the coating--it's probably not worth the effort and downtime anyway. Please pm me the pics when you get a chance.

If mine ends up cracking I'll just heat wrap all of it.

Also, how close is your DP to the driveshaft? Mine looks like it's REALLY close--I doubt I have 1/4" between the bottom bend and the actual driveshaft. It's just hanging off the turbo right now, so we may gain some room when the exhaust is in and actually supporting the lower end of the DP. But I don't know...
