THE CARS THAT BLEW...NONE WERE RUNNING DANGEROUS TUNES, IF ANYTHIGN THEY WERE ALL RUNNING STUPID RICH. All meth does is cool things inside the chambers...you wont even get any power from it. And once you go BT, your egts drop cause your no longer overboosting a pos turbo

probably 2-3 times a week....keep in mind that my 'tune' was not only wot, i pretty much every value in the sb changed, which includes part and cruise....which people say is impossible but yet i can make the car run 20 degrees of timing or make it stall at idle....odd huh. To do it right you have to be anal and spend alot of time on your tune...it gets to the point where its not even fun anymore, or it stopped being fun for me. Yea i had a couple sweet races, topped out over 160 easy, but in the back of mind i know i wasnt going to build this thing and once it blew i would probably roll it off a cliff

Where do you get that the cars that blew there motors wher rich? Can anyonelse back this up?There is a bad lean spot down low as you have always said. running toooo rich can cuase detonation as well

because ive spoke to about 70 percent of the bt guys on here...all of them are in the 10s-11s all say they were rich. The lean spot down low, you can do SHIT about it aside from getting something big enough that spool above that range....which a gt30 doesnt

Theres been people that blew with meth and a good tune. Meth is like ive been saying a band aid, if the cars are shit they will blow anyway no matter what.

Lol, a stock motor evo will have the same problems "we do" it's just that parts are cheaper and more available. Shit will blow on it left and right if you're pushing it far past 50-60% of stock power for long on stock tranny and engine.

People get bent over backwards with this car talking about blowing this and that and it's exactly like every other 4 banger. By the time you hit 330whp you're around 400hp at the crank. What else do you want from it?

It's very true, you push the envelope and it will yield and break no matter what. Materials are materials and you are riding the edge starting with the mid 300whp mark.

So put on any turbo you want. You hate the stocker, get a BT and run a couple more ponies than stock in the top end at the expense of some bottom end torque. It's a tradeoff game.

But don't expect to run a GT30 at 25 psi day in and day out and have the motor survive at 450whp no matter what you do to it and this is no different than other cars with similar engine displacements and price.

Meth and a good tune can prevent spikes in cylinder pressure (detonation) and that's great but in the end power means you want more torque and means MORE cylinder pressure and eventually it will break.

So you understand? Coming in here asking about odds is no use. You're looking for big power, get ready for something to break. You want to keep similar power and shift the power band to the higher RPM, get a big turbo and run that at a low psi and be done with it. Make sure you don't get creep or lose boost control because a big turbo will be like a runaway freight train and it won't run out of puff to save you at 6000RPM. In my opinion you'll lose out on some of the fun down low torque.

If I were to switch the turbo on this car, I wouldn't look past a GT28 because any more flow from a turbo is useless on a stock motor. You'll never use it and if you do you'll break the motor.

The lean spot on this motor as laloosh said earlier can be avoided completely if you get a turbo that spools later. I believe thats why ron and laloosh had good dealings with the gt35. But still, its taking a huge risk.

heres the thing. im sure everyone who got a bt got one because they thought exactly what you were thinking. its not like they said we'll most likely this will end in flames lets do it. they all probably said i'll play it safe stay low in the boost and everything will be okay. its pretty stupid to think its as easy as oh well ill just run a safe tune and low boost. what else would anyone think going into a build.

ok gsr i understand what your saying, no one has ran meth with a big turbo and blown, but how many have actually had a big turbo on stock motor? Im not saying its not possible but anything is, just be ready if it blows

Its really wishful thinking, i would like to think with the right setup that the motor will hold, but im not going to be the one to find out

First get your dp on and finish off the bolt ons and you may be happy at 22psi fully bolted
