It's all back on there. Just waiting on Versatune to send me their trial software and I'm golden! The trial software I'm getting will be just a premade flash of a stock tune with the MAF tables adjusted for the larger housing, target closed-loop AFR down to ~14:1, and fuel/boost cut parameters adjusted to give me more room. Once I get that email, all I'll have to do is plug the tacktrix cable into the car and my laptop, download the program, click 'run', and wait. I'm f#ckin stoked!

This will be good... I wan't this software if it works. I don't think I'll ever peg a blow through 3.25" MAF housing, and a full 4" intake and VTA BOV will be great..

You don't need blow thru maf for vta bov. Stock trims will handle it quite fine IMO, but it is a better setup indeed.

Only thing i wonder about is the turbulence on the maf from when the throttle shuts. Seems like alot of that air flow will pool up and get re-metered by the maf on it's way out the bov.

I know it's possible for sure, just not sure how much work it takes to tune for. GL ATE, and keep us posted man!

I ran VTA for a few weeks, and even with the standbacks fuel cut feature stopping the backfires, the car just felt off, having run it both ways the car behaves much better in recirc..

Not sure about the rest of the testers, but I'm still waiting. That's fine with me though. I don't need the car until january, so if he needs another week, so be it. Definately looking forward to it though.

Good news today that the car IS running with the relocated/resized MAF. Steve from VersaTune is helping me fine tune the MAF tonight. I gotta give him mad props! He stayed up til 1:00am (his time) this morning getting it to a point where I could drive it today! Still needs a little tweeking, and I have no idea what all he has changed or is going to change, so I can't answer what exactly has to be done to the ecu to make it work. I haven't gotten to see any tables or anything other than a little script program with two buttons; flash custom tune and flash stock tune. I'll go ahead and throw out there that it was 10*F in the wee hours of this morning here in STL, and I could not produce fuel cut. I used to get fuel cut anytime it'd drop below 20*F-ish before. Granted, I didn't go full WOT, but I did edge up to ~15psi. After we get it all dialed in tonight, he might chime in here with how he got it tuned to work in blow-thru, as far as what kind of changes need to be made to the tables and what-not. So blow-thru currently seems to be a viable option and VersaTune appears to have at least some level of control of the ECU.

Note: It only takes ~46 seconds to perform the flash from my laptop.

As promised...

And don't worry. When I put the 60 trim in I won't be using that crappy stock inlet crap. If it fits, the filter's going right on the turbo with a heat sheild.

Not sure of the exact details of the tune thus far, but he mentioned that he adjusted the MAF scaling, fuel-cut load threashold, fuel-cut boost threashold, spark tables, target AFR, throttle mapping.

As of this afternoon, my dashhawk fried. MSD will be replacing it or repairing it for me as soon as I can get it to them. This put a damper on tonights planned tuning session :-( It worked just fine last night for several hours with the new tune(s), but today when I tried to do some logs on lunch, it blipped an error code and went purple. I may have unplugged it from the car a little too early after shutting the car down last night cause it was f#cking cold and I had been outside for hours.

dude my DH bricks everytime i flash the car and then plug it in without starting the car first. you just need to reload the DH software and it works fine.

do this:
reflash ecu
start car
wait 20 sec
plug in DH.

EDIT:

i also had my screen turn black once and it wouldent change. if u take apart the DH and unplug and replug the LCD ribbon it fixed it.

How do you mean reload it? I tried updating the software with the newest version, but it still gives me the same code.

Sort of, but up/down doesn't do anything and it eventually goes black.

Yeah, that's what I had in mind. They're willing to honor the warantee even though I didn't buy it through an authorized vendor, so I'll take the freebee while I can get it. Got it from Randy btw. Honestly I'm not possitive that he's not an authorized dealer, but I'm also not possitive that he is... They couldn't tell me one way or the other though, but I'm getting a fixed unit off of it, so it doesn't really matter in my case.

I'm having a slight issue with the couplers failing and popping off... again. I think I'm gonna weld the square pipe I scavenged from a stock cold pipe to the rest of the new cold pipe because that one pops off after just a few wot runs, but what the hell can I do about the connection to the tb? Hump hose perhaps or does anyone think that by having the rest of it being welded in place be good enough? Honestly, I don't even think a hump hose would fit at the tb because of how tight it is already. I guess another option would be to tack on a support bracket to bolt to the frame. I'm just not sure that would hold. I didn't want to have the thing all welded together because of how much of a pita it would be to finagle it in place while bolted to the endtank, but I guess I gotta do what I gotta do, lol.

You can put brackets on either side of the coupler, and use a bolt through them to hold them together. Looks ugly, but works well.

maybe roughing up the tube underneath the coupler with some low grit sandpaper would help.

I'v already tried gorilla glue to hold the topside on. Appearently it couldn't hold back the 509 lb of pressure produces by 18psi, lol. I do like the bolting bracket idea though. I might give that a shot.

Depending on how much boost your running, a midget would probably work.

For anything over 20psi, be sure to go with a strong midget:

Well, I think I've got it secured. I drilled pilot holes thru the square pipe and the coupler and put a couple screws thru there, then clamped it back down. Also used more gorilla glue, lol. If that doesn't hold, it'll be coming of and going to the welder. It held this morning at full boost. I'm on version 6 of my versa etune and it's going pretty well. RPMs are smooth, but AFR still bounces around a bit. But that's cause I haven't gotten my DH back from MSD yet and haven't been able to send versatune any logs. Once I get that back, it should be just a matter of hours before I've got a near-perfect tune. Good news is that blow-thru runs just fine.

Thanks. I just hope it holds long enough to finish beta testing the versatune application. By then I should have the PTP mani and be ready to put on the new turbo. I'll be redoing some things during that downtime that should keep this popping off shit from happening ever again. My short term goal is to make it into the upper half of the 300s with the stock intake manifold, head, and short block. It seems feasable to me. A new intake manifold, tb, headwork, cams, and secondary fuel system will probably be my next set of projects after that. That probably won't even begin until the end of this year though.

For you??? Anything is possible .

You'll need a way to tune for it though, it's basically just an exotic maf cal. So atr or this versa tuner would do it.
