over sized throttle body...

If I were to have my TB oversized lets say 3 mm and had a new butterfly installed would I run into any problems with the throttle position sensor or would it just act as more free flowing TB??

it is pretty cheap to have done at my local machine shop but I dont want to chance it and then be stuck with an over sized TB and the throttle position sensor not being able to communicate properly..

please lemme know what u think....

Because this engine uses the DBW system to regulate the idle instead of an IAC valve, you could possibly have idle control issues. Other than that I don't think there will be any problems as long as the machine shop doesn't damage the TB when they disassemble it..

You do realize, 90% of our members are the SMART members, even if they dont have 250 posts. This isnt M247 or M3F. This is MSF, the standard.

The factory TB is big enough to handle the highest hp cars out there currently, its good to about 425hp @ 23psi... more or less.

this has been done once before
idle was affected (in a negative way)
and you must remove your intake manifold and open up the throttle body area
otherwise you'll have a greater airflow obstruction between the TB and IM than stock

But that was before ATR and the ability to recalibrate idle rpms and fueling. It should be able to be tuned for, right?

Removing the front half of the throttle plate bar and port/polish results in more flow area than a regular 3mm larger TB. But then, if you p/p the 3mm larger TB and remove the front half of the bar from it, then it will be even more flow area.

I've had p/p TB on mine for quite a while now without a tune and no idle issues what so ever. Nice improvement in throttle response for sure, but never dynoed to see what it gained up top.

well, i was set on buying ame a SB (3 when it comes out) but I heard you don't have as many tuning options as an AP....
what to do?

IM, TB both easy enough to remove....i have egr delete, i have PTP IM spacer/gasket, I have the mesh that goes near the MAF sensor but I have a CAI and it may not be poss to install...

I have all this shit ready to be installed....and alls I need to do is have the TB and the IM P/P

I work 7 days a week and don't have much time to do all that in one day lol....
