bnoon, what does your bolt do exactly? I'm interested in buying one. Do you have a webpage that goes into detail about the bolt and how it works, and also sells it?

Thanks.

My restrictor bolt is nothing special, it works just like every other oil feed restrictors on the market except that it's built for our banjo bolt oil feed line. The others are all NPT style threads or pill inserts that will not work with our oil feed system.

My bolts are sold through paypal. brad@bnmotorsports.com is the payment address. I have a post in the speed 3 "how to" section on this site with install pics and even how to make your own if you have the tools and knowledge to do so.

Please post a picture. It should have only 1 side hole and one hole down the length of the bolt. Perhaps the other side is a center punch mark??? If not, send me pics and I'll send another one right away if something is machined wrong on that one.

They are currently $40 shipped to brad@bnmotorsports.com

Thanks!

Hey I can tell you Brad's Bnoon bolt is what will work. After going catless I was smoking. Had an OCC installed at the time we put on the rest of the parts... Still smoking. Had the PT-P pill installed, reduced smoking but still smoked. Put a highflow cat in... Still fricken smoked. Put Brad's Bnoon bolt in... No more smoke.

Glad it worked for you.

Yeah that's a second center punch mark. Sometimes I hit them just a touch off center and have to do it again on the other side. No harm with installing that one.

bnoon, hey I've been following your posts for a while now, think what your doing is pretty impressive. On another note, I have read you rarely check your paypal email, if so, how do I go about getting one of your bnoon bolts? This is the first forum I've ever joined, all to get your bolt, so I really don't know how these things work. I too, have fallen victim to the infamous "smoking turbo." Ive been running Royal Purple 5 w40 with an OCC and the pill, still smokes at idle, pretty heavily. Let me know what I need to do to get one of your bolts. Thanks

yeah I was runnin AMSOIL 5W30 originally and smoked pretty bad. Mazda told me to up to 5W40 and AMSOIL only carries a diesel and euro blend. So I ended up going Royal Purple. Next Im gonna try Rotella. I hear good things about that stuff, although it's probably not gonna fix this problem.

Yeah, I check it every couple of days at the max. Send Paypal funds and let me know here when you do. If you don't have enough posts, go into the general BS forum and make some or donate to the site.

Strange, I only started smoking once I added the OCC. Though MATT's new Check Valve helped cut down on the smoke, and switching to a 40 weight oil like Rotella helped more. Now I'm using Redline 10w40 and it pretty much doesn't smoke at all anymore.

But I know of another guy on these forums who also started smoking after adding an OCC too. If you have one, try getting one of MATT DIAMOND's new check valves and switch to a 40 weight oil. RP is good stuff, so is AMSOIL and Redline or Shaeffers. Rotella is a good bang for your buck.

I didn't really care for the Rotella's much, stunk really bad and went thin before the others it seems.

Shpankey, the reason adding the catch can made you smoke is because the second PCV lowers the amount of over all flow to the crankcase. The check ball flows better when used in place of the second PCV, so it allows more flow through the system.

I have to agree... most UOA's I've seen of Rotella syn 5w40 stay in grade quite well. It's a selling point to some. Especially when so many PCMO's go out of grade so quickly. A good HDMO like Rotella is a nice solution to that problem. Unless you're fully bolted and have some hard on oil driving habits, it should easily stay in grade.

p.s. thnx for the infor bnoon

Well the PTP Pcv fix solved my smoking at idle, but I am still leaking oil out of the intercooler. Check out the pic:

I have had a catch can, 5w-40 oil, the valve cover breather fix and the bnoon banjo bolt at the same time, and I still burn oil and smoke like hell at gas stations and stop lights lol. The only thing that seems to help at all was the bnoon banjo bolt, and only temporarily. Big turbo seems to be the only for sure fix.

Try taking off the OCC for a bit, if you don't mind. That's when mind started smoking. Either that or order Matt's new check valve that replaces the 2nd PCV. That helped mine a lot. I'm basically back to no smoke at all now.

Also, run an oil with a low NOACK rating and high HTHS.

here: http://www.protegegarage.com/1804-ma...o-pcv-fix.html

They're are no longer a vendor on MSF but their parts are still available.

The MSF forum search is quite bad, use google site search IE: "mazdaspeed 3 pcv valve site:http://www.mazdaspeedforum.org/forum" - without the quotes.

You really should read your intro PM and post in the new member thread.

Been running the Pill for almost 6 months on my 07 ms6 already. I raised the idle to 1k rpm, not smoking since then! Running a test pipe with magnaflow exhaust too.

I've been using the PTP Pill since 9/2009, and I've never smoked despite going from 40k to over 113k in that time.

There was so much oil coming from the turbo that the plumbing just slid off without even loosening the clamp. And a nice oil stain underneath it too. This is untouched since car was manufactured.

Is this from the turbo seals or from the PCV or EGR or does that dump farther downstream towards the intake manifold?

FYI: Turbo rebuild kit available here: G-Pop Shop :: quick links Rebuild Kits :: KKK Rebuild Kits

No idea how hard they are to rebuild or if special tools are required.

I don't have it in me to be an asshole today, but if I did I'd say search fucknut because the various causes of this have been notated in various threads within the forums.

since I didn't say that i'll say this; when your pcv clogs up, the pressure looks for anyway to escape. often it's pushing more shit out of the valve cover to make up the difference. when that happens, the oil is going into your tip and thus, the abundance of oil on the exterior of the turbo housing.

when mine clogged up I dumped a ton of oil out of my vc. luckily i have a can connected vs it going into my tip. I'd say clean it up, run it for a few hundred miles, and pull shit of again to see if it's still happening.

Did it look like that before you changed the PCV valve? If not, then there's a good chance that the new valve isn't working installed/working properly.
