Ive been talking Bryan via email and he said that he could only do a stg 2 w/ a GT2860 not the 2871. Stg3 is not available yet. I would like to see the results from urs aswell. Since I just picked up a stocker and havnt decided what to do w/ it yet
He's limited on Stage III wheels which is why I put my deposit down on one. Forza and I will be the only Stage IIIs out there for a while.

Worst case, Bryan's going to make them himself if there's enough demand, but for most... a 2860 wheel is great coming from stock.

Has boost creep been tested on the stock turbine housing? I doubt it flows that much better than the ATP one, and possibly even worse.

It's been tested without issues unlike ATP's notoriously poor design.

From what I've read, they don't support a 3" inlet anymore (Can anyone confirm?). But either way, that implies you have a choice in inlet size....

based on the horror stories of waiting months for the simplest things from PG, I would personally pay the extra for the PTP

I run the BNR stage 2 turbo and love it , no more smoke , hold boost , stock inlet size option , bolt-on on the exhaust . Expensive yes but , imo it's the best turbo available without forged internals . Everything is new from Garrett except the hot side . Bryan from BNR have a great customers service . I got 287 whp & 312 torque (speed6) at only 18 psi .
Turbo is good for 24 psi but i'll keep it at 18 psi . here a picture of the stock K04 VS the BNR stage 2 . bnrsupercars@yahoo.com

Nice man! How much improvement did you get with overall feel/power over stock? Just curious.

Also, were you still able to run a stock style TIP as the new inlet looks slightly larger than the stocker?

The turbo spool 750 rpm later but punch harder at the 5000rpm ++
The inlet can be machined down by Bryan for the stock inlet size . I have the CP-E inlet with the stock size and fitment is perfect . Bryan made a nice job . For the outlet i changed the coupler because i have the first batch of turbo but for the next batch Bryan have a new adaptor on it so the stock coupler will fit .

Thanks for the pic, really like this. were there an fitment issues or any problems that u had w/ this setup? Did u opt for the stock inlet size or can u get the larger one? If I go this route it seems like a larger inlet size would make a difference. That actually sounds like a good thing, turbo spoolin 750rpm later, limit some of that low-end torque. Do u get any creep w/ this setup? Sorry for all the questions but, I really starting to think that this is the route im going to go. Even though it costs a lil more, this is a great long term choice!

BNR Turbo+Grimmspeed EBC = Possible Win? I hope

No boost creep , Yes i took the stock inlet size ,some little modif on the coolant hose and some little trim on the hot shield on the turbo . Also you will need to move the turbo selenoid on the firewall because it is on the stock turbo so i just screw it on the firewall . Here a picture .

Im prolly goin to be using the Grimmspeed EBCS which mounts ont he firewall anyway for the 3's, so that no biggie. I just emailed Bryan and told him that I going to want this setup. I'd really like the stg3 one like Alpha & Fordza are getting but who knows how long of a wait that'd be, soooo looks like stg2 for me

what is that 1st pic of? Looks like k04 then Gt28? Did they ceramic coat the hotside for u? Bryan didnt really seem like stg3 was an option, but thats ok. I think that stg2 will be fine for my goals. Even though stg3 would be ideal. Thanks for the info

They are stage 1, 2 & 3. The Stage 1 is the OEM housing with a different wheel. You're right, the stage 2 & 3 are GT28 housings. IIRC, the Stage 2 is a 2860 wheel and the stage 3 is a 2871 wheel.

Can't confirm through testing, but the word is yes. IMO the OEM BCS is rather fragile and tends to die early when you start running it at high duty cycles. Mine was beginning to leak and stick, so I went ahead with the Perrin 3-port for my OEM turbo in prep for the bigger turbo.

I plan on running the new grimmspeed setup, but am probably going to need to get a dyno tune since there are really are no maps that I know of for this setup and the grimmspeed does need to be tuned in order to not overboost

Im sending in my k04 to them(BNR) today. Cant wait!

If you send them a core, how much for the upgrade to stg 2?

$1,200 IIRC. A small price to pay considering the ease of installation and lack of EWG necessity.

Nice, so u made 287awhp @ 15psi? Or was it higher for that run, cuz bryan said u can run these up to 24psi. At 15psi u well within the efficency range of the BNR. Those are good #'s for such low boost levels. U got a nice setup

So if I am reading that correctly, you only added maybe 100 RPMs of lag with the new turbo?

The BNR turbo spool 500-750 rpm later than the stock K04 , not 100 rpm

Its only been 3 days since I sent in my turbo and I already want it! With a DP and ExMani I bet/hope I can make some good powa. I wonder if any of the GT2871 maps would work well w/ this setup. Maybe worth a try b4 a dyno tune

Actually those are not GT housings.. the compressor housings are from Hitachi.. those are the same compressor housings as the stock turbo's off 2nd generation Rx-7's..Brian actually started building hybrid turbo's for the 2nd gen rx7 about 5 or so years ago... I wouldn't be surprised if he has piles of these compressor housings kicking around to use...

Then why are all 4 curves in the dyno plot within ~100 rpms?

I agree that 500-750 rpms would make more sense, but the dyno doesn't appear to reflect that. ???

Okie Dokie! Now that you mention it, I think he did tell us that a long while back in the other forum thread.
