Questions about porting the WG on the stock turbo

What is the minimal overlap recomended for the wastegate flap to maintain a proper seal?
PTP mentioned in another thread that the pic below showed "plenty of room to port it out"
if thats the case, how thin would I dare go? Im down to port it, but only if I feel confident im not gonna junk yard it by doing so.

What is your car doing? I took out some material along the hump in the flow path and smoothed it a good bit. I feel that the hump is there to make exhaust flow to the wg so I rounded the edges alot. I enlarged my wg opening about 1mm all the way around. Just make sure you don't compramise the sealing surface you will see a clear ring where the flapper door sits.

You will need a minumum of .100 overlap. I have taken them to .080 but thats taking risks that are unecessary.

What you want to do is look at how the unit flows. Make changes in the areas that would induce proper or more flow to the exhaust gasses. By doing this you should see a higher boost hold to redline and lower EGT's. I would also have to say that if you plan on doing the port work I would get it ceramic coated as well. This makes a huge difference in spool time for the turbo. Start porting and I will post pictures of what we have done to our units so you have a kind of guide to port off of.
