Default some thoughts for a ms6 exhaust system

buying a tbe and can't decide between the corksport tbe or a atp catted dp/cpe catted down pipe with the cpe dual exit. is the second setup really worth the extra money ? which would sound better ?

Cpe quality is really good and worth the extra money IMHO. It sounds great too. Never used the other ones, so I can't compare them.

I run a CPe Single exit with PERM non-catted DP and the Car sounds awesome. Might throw a extra resonator in it this winter to help with HWY drone tho (Drone is to be expected on any straight pipe exhaust).

Now which setup is the least likely to smoke my turbo ? Now Ik its inevitable if the turbo seals are already bad but I want to keep it from not smoking

I have a cpe single exit with a muffler, resonator and test pipe and it sounds awesome, no drone whatsoever and very mellow while cruising. I'm going to install a cpe catted down-pipe.

I had a stock DP, Corksport 3" resonated test pipe, and the Corksport 3" dual exhaust. I got alot of compliments on the sound, mostly from STI owners. Sounded great outside the car, but it was pretty loud on the inside. And it shakes the house windows in the winter time when I start the car to let it warm up.

I paid like $300 or $400 bucks for a shop to build me a 3" to dual 2.5" y-pipe + magnaflow mufflers, it sounds amazing and it was made for my car.

Catback is going to have very minimal effects on turbo backpressure.

I'm with Dale on this one. The MS6 exhaust is easy to fabricate. Get it custom made save tons of money.

Just wanted to throw this out there, since the y-pipe was hard to track down...

I ordered a 3"IN/OD Y-pipe from

Chad Krueger
Big Rig Chrome Shop, Inc

and a spring bolt 3" flange from ebay for $40

added a couple magnaflow 14" mufflers and $350 later got it installed at a local shop.

3" front to back

U can delete the second cat it's as long as u still have ur main cat. You can replace it with a high flow cat to minimize the chances of your turbo smoking. Going catless increases the chance of that happening greatly

For this I've got full cpe, with cpe downpipe, dual exit exhaust , high flow cat, sounds great & great performance. As far as the notorious smoking problem when putting on a bigger downpipe and bigger exhaust with a stock turbo, it is hit and miss if u will have the problem, but if you do the best way to get rid of it IMHO is to bring your idle up. I smoke pretty bad originally, but after bumping up the RPM at idle I rarely if ever see smoke, and she sounds better a couple hundred rpm higher.

Yea so either way cats or no cats it may smoke so I mean I don't really see a problem going catless other than it being loud as fuck

Is the dual exit "quiet" like cpe says it is

And yes I went through all of the other fixes of banjo oil restricter bolt (~$20), heavier oil (Rotella 5w-40), turbo seals were replaced twice, and there was a recall fix on some models that I had done... None of them worked. I took the car to the dealer for some warranty stuff and they performed an unsolicited oil change for me and put in their normal oil. That was the only time I smoked after I bumped up my idle. So I have seen a direct correlation to oil type and idle rpm. The oil restricter bolt may or may not be doing anything.

The dual is manageable... Still aftermarket deep beautiful sound, but not nearly as loud as most aftermarket exhausts and daily driveable IMHO
