Stock PCV Valve Removal

just want to diagnose things and i want to start by replacing the pcv valve. this is my daily so i have to drive the car to work and just waiting for a few more items before i start putting my new turbo. do i just pull it out or do i have to go the hard way by taking the IM off?

there is a plastic clip holding it in place.. you can try from undernear the car, but removing the intake manifold depending if you have done it before could be easier

u done this b4? how do u get access to that clip?

im pritty sure you haved to remove the im to do this. there is a plastic cover over part of the pcv valve.

Why do you want to remove it? Why not just disregard it and add another heavy duty PCV in line on a CC setup? Thats what I did. Maybe I'm missing your point.

There's a block breather box on the block that the PCV valve sits in. You need to remove that box, in-order to get at the clip and remove the PCV valve.

IDK if you could get at the 10 or so 10mm bolts, that hold the breather box to the block, w/o removing the mani.

How do you know you're stock valve is faulty?

If you look at my crankcase breather thread you might be able to get an idea of what you would need to do to get to it. I highly doubt you can get that clip off without removing the breather.

lol you werent suppose to pull on the pcv itself, we just needed the hose off it.

id say easy way is remove intake manifold.

You can test the pcv without removing it by temporarily removing the stock hose from the intake manifold and connecting a longer piece of 5/8 hose. You can suck on the hose (LOL) or blow air in from the valve cover side to make sure air comes out that pcv valve through the longer hose and you can pressurize the longer hose with an air compressor to make sure the pcv holds pressure.

Dude, I just helped a buddy with this since he broke his PCV valve. Removing the intake mani isn't as hard as it sounds and makes the whole process of working on the PCV valve a HELL-OF-A lot easier. I would recommend doing that honestly. Plus then you get to see all the shit built up on your valves
