Default Sure Turbo Inlet installed - impressions

Ordered a Sure TIP from Street Until (thanks Mark for the impeccable customer service) and got a chance to install it over the weekend. As many have previously posted, the install wasn't horrible. Against better advice I installed it at night so some install challenges I faced probably could have been avoided by waiting until morning. But my free time is little these days so I went ahead and jumped in at night.

First impressions were WOW! a. Wow - the factory unit was a pile of crap, b. wow - the factory unit was loose and barely hanging on, c. wow - i love the small, but noticeable power gains and the newfound turbo sounds even my SRI didn't produce alone.

The build quality was top notch. Excellent product quality. The install was about a 3.5 on a 1-10 scale. Overall, for $170'ish very worthwhile investment.

I know the subject has been beat to death, but I wanted to post especially about the Sure product quality and the always impressive customer service from SU.

nah it aint for me man. when a product is good a picture tells a more complete story and maybe gives the next guy the balls to do it..... trust me , there are alot of people that just get intimidated and dont do certain shit out of ignorance rather then because its hard.

anyways, thanks.

how long did it take you to do?

Got an Injen cai on mine now and curious if I would need to remove that get to it or when I get my CS TMIC is the TIP accessible that way as well or is it better to take the battery box out?

Took about 2 hours, but I think it can be done in less. Frankly removing the ECU harness' was the worst part for me. I'm also a big guy so squezing my hand in behind the TMIC was kindof a pain. Could have easily pulled it off, but not necessary. The CAI is probably a much easier install. Once you pull the stocker off and see the crud building up in your turbo because of the loose installation of the stocker, you will be as glad as I am that you did. I still cannot get over what a pile of crap the stock unit is.

Oh, and depending on if your CAI comes apart you may or may not have to pull it out. Certainly need to remove the MAF housing. Installing the MAF housing and recirulation tubes ahead of installing the TIP is advisable as well. The hoses are a tight fit and trying to put them on after the fact was impossible. That was an extra 15-20 minutes of noobie time.

STREET UNIT. Not Street Until. Sorry. SU FTMFW!

You might as well get good at pulling the battery box now. Sometimes I'll try to find a way to avoid pulling something ie battery box, IC piping, bumper, undertray, etc. and end up wasting more time than if I had just pulled the damn thing in the first place.
