It is actually more beneficial to recirculate boost than to vent it to atmosphere.

That article is the biggest "DUH" I think I've ever read... Keep it stock if you don't already know as much information as that article contains. Any BOV is going to work as long as it doesn't leak, and run it in bypass (NOT VTA) unless you're ready to tune, or deal with popping backfires and/or erratic idle if you don't tune.

Hey it's import tuner, the kids that read that don't know any better haha. Import tuner is for kids with body kits and loud ass mufflers.

Its fine to get one, just recirculate it. About 99% of the members on this board are running aftermarket bpvs.

Exactly.

That article was a waste of time. That is common sense (or should be).

Since I don't have a car to install anything on and I have read that you can change proportionately the amount of boost you vent to atmosphere and the amount that gets recirculated, why wouldn't everyone just set it to full recirculation? How does venting to atmosphere help? Is it because if you recirculate too much the turbo will get damaged? or is it because people just like the sound of bov's.

People like the sound of BOV's.

This was a good post. As much as everyone whines it was already know or common sense that just not the case.

Thanks for adding something to the forum.

You know I know the articles and everyone here is right BUT I have been running my HKS SSQV VTA air now for about 6 months.I do get a little backfiring from time to time I wont deny that but I have no problem at all with idling in the least.I have the mount to change it to recirc and the hose in a bag I carry in the trunk and will eventually change it BUT for now I like the looks from little old ladies and the way little kids jump when they hear it so far......LOL

Hmmmmm.....maybe that had something to do with my top cat exploding the other day but I really doubt it,I think it was the wotbox myself.

I was talking to my friend (he has a neon srt-4) yesterday about recirculation and he said that recirculation doesn't really matter if you are power shifting, using a wot box, or in the case of the 08/09 cobalt ss/tc no-lift-shifting because you will be maintaining boost anyway. Is this true or is there some other advantage that comes from recirculation regardless of whether or not you are maintaining boost?

Neon SRT-4s are not MAF cars, so they can do whatever they want.

I suspect that because the MS3 runs so rich as it is, a lot of people don't have issues with running VTA.

i just started running vta since installing my fmic last weekend and i honestly don't have any problems other than the occasional backfire, but its not even that frequent. i dont have any kind of idle problems or studder issues when shifting for that matter. i have everything to go to recirc but i figured i'd give this a shot.

I swapped back to my factory bpv, after I realized it holds 20 psi just fine. Sold my TS bov compact.

The sound didn't matter much anymore, after I installed a TIP. The bypass is virtually silent now.

I've been running VTA HKS, but I've been feeling guilty about it lately. I might switch to recirc soon.

you guys must have not read the article very well. They are talking about letting the stock bpv vent to atmosphere, which we all know the stock valves leaks like a cunt, so it has to have the recirc. The hks on the other hand holds boost like a motherfucker

I have been VTA almost sence I bought the car. Using a HKS SSQ for at least a year and a half going on two with no known problems. Just a few crackles n pops... Seems to run just fine to me, not the first CEL. Granted, I bought it new, and have only put on 17k miles... lol so still a bit leery about it.

I think i am going to invest in a CPE standback eventually to put my mind at ease.

With the CPE CAI and VTA it sounds amazing.

i had my HKS vta for a bit....i read a bunch of ppl (on here) had it and no problems...did it for like 3 weeks, even reset the ecu, id get a backfire every once in a while but everythin else seemed fine. I just recently switched back to recirc and OMG 20x better...i never appreciated recirc until now....set it back to recirc...feel the silky smooth...
