I have a TurboXS RFL bov, so perhaps I should experiment with the washers in it to see if the sound will go away? I'm thinking there are too many washers in it so it's not venting the compressed air early enough. Please some one help! Until I saw the video in this write up I figured my SRI was just wobbling and that was the noise I heard

On a good note, this is an amazing write up!
You are likely hearing the bpv sound, or bypass flutter, rather than compressor surge.

Opening up the intake with a sri allows the sound of the bpv to be more audible.

I really appreciate this, and I'd like to say you're right.. But the RFL bov vents to atmosphere, and makes a very loud "PSHHHH" sound. The sound I'm hearing is much different than if it were the bov fluttering and letting air out. It would be more like a quick "PSH PSH PSH" sound than the "FLUB FLUB FLUB" that I'm hearing... That's just my thought, unless you can explain it better.

Thanks

EDIT: I did a short drive tonight and couldn't reproduce the sound. The air is MUCH colder tonight than it was yesterday so I don't know if that's a factor.

As posted earlier you dont have a problem. Aftermarket intakes allow more sound both ways, if you follow what im saying. You can hear the turbo spool and the BOV operate. Enjoy the sound, its a good thing.

Excellent write up! I know the last portion addressed this, but I wanna make sure I'm drawing the right conclusion.
Turbo timer NOT needed on the MS3 because it is water cooled correct? Are there any other benefits of a timer I may be overlooking?
Thanks again!

It isn't just because water cooling but because it is water-cooled, it reduce the cool down time enough that most of us can reduce their use of the boost 1-2 minutes before destination and no cool down is needed. But if you do the few last miles under wot, IMO the water won't be enough to remove the heat and the chance for the trapped oil to burn inside the turbo CHRA is much more greater.

In manny case the use of a turbotimer is more to show off and let others know that you have a turbo than really needed in normal driving conditions. If the use you make call for a cool down delay, a remote car starter with a timer option is a wiser idea than just a turbo timer

Should also be noted that only petroleum products COKE. Meaning break down into nasty shit. Runs synthetic and dont drag race into your garage and TTs are for show. Got a super hot running setup? Running old school oil? TT your brains out. Other than that, no. I still give mine rig a one two count before killing it though, just because im meticulous.

http://s321.photobucket.com/user/guh...03813.jpg.html

I had the impression it was because the trapped oil cooked right there after motor shut off. But i don't know if they were using cheap mineral oil or more used to stop right after a drag race...
I removed mine at 75-80k miles to put a GT28 and it wasn't cooked like that. Was it because of syntetic oil or because of my driving habbits...? i can't say but both made it good!
