Default What do I need to do to get my car running again with a bnr s3

I just had my stock turbo start to smoke. I wanted to go to a bnr s3 later down the road but I figured since the stock turbo is smoking now I might as well just get the s3 now. I wanted to know what I could do to get the bnr s3 on and running properly without having to upgrade much. Currently I have a fully stock speed 3. I plan on just keeping it around stock power as of now until I can get the money to upgrade more. So what all would I need to do to just get my car running again safely with the bnr s3 with minimal upgrades?

I'm going with CS instead.

You will need intake, ebcs, AP, and turbo, this is the bare minimum.

I guess you could technically run the turbo with stock everything and just get a AP + tune.

2005 Mazda 3 SP23: mods include rusty quarter panels and grinding 3rd gear. It does have a fusion motor, so I guess that's a mod too.

Why are you going with the cork sport over the s3? And through my research wouldn’t I need a coupler to adapt the stock intake to the larger inlet on the turbo? And would I need a new boost controller?

EBCS = electronic boost control solenoid
AP = Accessport, controls boost via a tune that uses the electronic boost control solenoid.
Stock intake coupler will fit the S3.

To run the S3, you absolutely, 100% must have a custom tune. There is no way to run it without it. You also absolutely need upgraded HPFP (high pressure fuel pump) internals to run the turbo safely.

Is there a certain electronic boost control solenoid that you would recommend?

You’ll need upgraded high pressure fuel pump (HPFP) internals as well.

I’ve been researching this since I got the car but I could never find the bare minimum needed to get it to work. Everyone always talks about how they are going for big power right away and how they are going to upgrade everything they can.

Not sure about the S3, but the CS turbo works just fine with the stock EBCS.

How long have you had the car? Will you be installing everything yourself?

Look son, if you spent even a few minutes searching, you could've found the "wikispeedia" link.

Try this sub-section: Build Paths and Stages - Mazdaspeed Forums Mazdaspeed 3/6 Wikispeedia

This link is also critical if you decide you're going to get your hands dirty with this vehicle.

You will have to change over less parts if you use the Corksport turbo. HPFP, AP, and tune are a must though, but on the plus side you will needs those for any other mods down the road. Just contact Corksport and they will let you know what you need.

Ditto. You can run a corksport turbo with stock everything. Only mods necessary are HPFP and a Tune via AP or VT.
